We do not carve pumpkins for Thanksgiving - but there is quite a bit of controversy about Halloween. Here is a good indicator if Christainity... A woman was asked by a coworker, "What is it like to be a Christian?" The coworker replied, "It is like being a pumpkin." God picks you from the patch, brings you in, & washes all the dirt off of you. Then He cuts off the top & scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, & greed. Then He carves in you a new smiling face & puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see."

I have only carved pumpkins at Halloween around October 31st. I don't think it is a Christian thing, just an american thing
