When we understand that only we can satisfy ourselves then we have the power to fulfill our own needs. When we search for gratification outside of ourselves it usually means that we are not giving our spirit what it needs to feel fulfilled, which makes it easier for us to focus on ourselves and more rewarding ways to feed our deepest yearnings. Once we realize that we hold within us the key to our happiness, we will stop searching for things outside of ourselves. When we bring our focus within we will find that we already have everything we need to be happy.

This is an excellent post! Most definitely, we are the only ones that can provide self-gratification within ourselves. Many people may not be able to seek what they have always possessed, but within ourselves so many questions can be answered. You are absolutely correct, once this realization is discovered, only then can we realize that life is not as bad as we may think that it is. Our self-knowledge allows for us to awaken our souls and see the world and our lives far beyond what we could have ever imagined. We truly are the only main element to happiness. We are the only ones that can do it for ourselves. Happy MyLotting!

I couldn't agree more. Happiness is within us all, but too often, we allow external influences to guide us. This is partly because of society/peer group pressure, and worrying what other people think. We should always strive to achieve what we want, no matter how lofty that goal may seem.
Interesting thoughts, thank you for sharing.

I agree. I always say that when "self-gratification" is reached, it will not be on the part of anyone else's views of what we should have done, how we should have done it and when it should have been done, but rather when we can feel that we have made it within ourselves! No one can determine when we have made it but ourselves and when that day comes, it will be only that day that we will be able to feel that feeling that we always wished to feel. Self-gratification is a gift we can only give to ourselves. Good post! Happy MyLotting!

A happy mind is equal to a healthy mind. Keeping yourself happy has got many advantages. If you are happy, you will find an easy solution to your problems. You will be more efficient in your work if you are happy & also you can maintain a good relation with people as they find it pleasing to see a happy face. In-short, being happy is the key to success.

Happiness can come in many ways. You can be happy with your job that pays so much. You can also rejoice for having a very classy car. You become satisfied with life if you have all the things you need and want. To people who can't afford to furnish the luxuries of the world, their joy relies on how they can eat three square meals a day. People on the streets end the day with a smile if they feed their hungry stomachs. Happiness is also priceless when you are able to establish a project that envisions to help the needy. Community service is a joy, I must say. If you are career-oriented like me, you won't be happy unless you find a job that suits your personality and interests. If you're born to be a leader, you find contentment in holding a corporate or government position.

Being happy is all about the satisfaction and nothing more.. When you are satisfied you will not look for more. but when there is a great need of satisfaction the chance of getting lonely is great and the chance of happiness is slim. So my advice is find what you love to do and be happy of what you already have.

In my opinion it is the most important thing to fulfill our own needs. I have mentioned in a previous post that there is no such "thing" as "happiness". There are only happy moments put together, and less worries and troubles because life is short and seeking happiness in doing one thing like for ex. seeking happiness in God, in knowledge, a new partner, a new house, a new baby etc,is wrong for me. All these put together will definitely make your life happier and satisfied inside, and also complete you as a person. Thinking positive is a good think to do.

Good post, and showing our care for others is also rewarding to increase our happiness. In this changing world, a positive attitude is helpful for all, both junior and senior. If ever compare, compare with our difficult past, and with people still in challenging status.

being happy is very important for our life, to be happy, we need to find out a blance of want and need. we want to get something, such as good salary, a perfet family, very lovely children and so on, but as the matter of fact, no any thing can be woundful. so we should set up a blance of each set. so that we will be happy every day.good luck!

People find happiness in different levels. Some are satisfied with just little while other yearn for more. I still believe that being is happy is a choice. It all comes from one's state of mind. The more conscious you make yourself to be happy , the better your life would become.

Hi Pose,
Agree with you. Nothing can make us truly happy but ourselves. Happiness is a state of mind, and unless we are able to appreciate what we are and what we have, true happiness can never be achieved. Some people derive happiness by making others happy, but how can they make others happy if they themselves aren't? It's funny how people try so hard to find happiness through others when in reality, it is just within themselves.

Very profound thoughts. So glad I came across this. Hope u wont mind me copying it down, and may be passing it to some of my close friends. It is true u know. Not mere words that u read somewhere and felt they make sense at that moment and forgot about it in less than 5 minutes after reading them. If u take the journey inside, u will realize that this peace, contentment, happiness, etc., is definitely not that transient. I am going thru this phase, and I hope it lasts for the rest of my life. And I wish u too should experience the same. :-)

You are absolutely right. Happiness is within ourself. But sometimes we think more of other people before thinking of our own self..and we look for something we could not find and ask for something we can not have.
Personally i dont think there are people that are 100% happy within themselves coz really our life is made of mixed emotions. That what makes life very interesting..very hard to explain and so difficult to understand.
But one thing is for sure...im happy most days.
