I like them both and I think they are equally good for you. They might have their different benefits...it will be interesting to see if someone here has details on this rice issue!

Well the thing about white rice is that it's bleached to be white. so that makes it unhealthy as opposed to brown rice which is naturally brown. Same thing with the white bleached flower versus the unbleached one, and white sugar vs.the slightly brown sugar.

Ah yes I've heard that too, same as white sugar. Seems like the big manufacturers like to use chlorine or something.

I like brown rice, but we do not eat rice very often. I have found that they even make an instant brown rice. I would eat more rice if more people in my house like it. We mostly eat potatoes.

I like white rice because it makes the food stand out more if it has a white background. Brown rice has its own taste and I never acquired the flavor. White for me.

No I like them both the same. I can't ever tell the difference unless of course I have it served to me plain and see the color.

I don't really have a preference, though for some reason or another I tend to buy the white rice. I think it might be because my husband prefers it, though I can't seem to remember at the moment! LOL
I don't know if our kids would like it anyway. They're so accustomed to eating white rice that they may think brown rice is some sort of foreign food! LOL
Happy mylotting!

I prefer white rice, which I know isn't as good for me. I especially love Jasmine rice! I know that brown rice is just rice with the hull on and has good things in it but it just tastes nasty to me.
Good for you, feeding your family what's best for them!

Jasmine rice is the "sticky" rice you get in Chinese restaurants. It has a faintly nutty aroma and tastes delicious! It costs a little more but it's SO worth it!

Hi there Shar19
Well I changed from white pasta to wholemeal but only for certain dishes. For some things it just doesn't taste right. I have never really tried brown rice as it takes so much longer to cook and have always thought it wouldn't taste as nice. I am sure it is more expensive too, things that are better for you are generally more pricey!!

I am not much of a rice eater at all but my husband is. We eat rice occasionally but it is always the white rice. I have never tried the brown rice. Does it taste the same or is there a difference?

i honestly like brown rice better for taste, but white rice for time.
brown seems to take twice as long to cook than the other.

I don't mine either. But since I am a shopper by cost I'll probably stick with the white as I can get 3# long grain for say $1.75 @ Aldi. I did take a peek and I can buy store brand elsewhere for brown it was about the same price but for only 2#'s.
Perhaps I'll mix them both up in a container and I'll have rice confetti *LOL*

RIce doesn't matter to me. I'll eat basically any kind since I love rice. My family does not like that I eat so much of it because we could run out so fast, and I have the biggest appetite. I found out that I could eat 1.5 pounds of rice at one meal after buying a 2 pound bag at a grocery store. So we have to buy a large bag from costco. Usually, it's the 20 pound bag of Bashmati rice, but in a short amount of time, I could go through half of it myself.
