For the windows operating system, I have used sony, toshiba and ibm laptops. All were reliable but I've liked the sony laptops the best. For service and reliability I'd give them a top rating. I never buy the top end product (you know, the fastest, thinnest, fanciest models) but I'd rate the price for the performance you get for the low to middle end models high as well. Shop around online because there is a big difference in price at different stores.
I'll probably move over to Apple laptops next time I buy a laptop. Their products and operating system are great - I'm tired of all the windows issues.

The last Toshiba I bought was 5 or 6 years ago - I think it had Windows ME on it! So that model doesn't exist anymore. My current Sony laptop model is also not available anymore (you might still find a bargain refurbished model) but it is the VGN-N270E, Intel Core Duo CPU T2350, 1.86 GHz, 15-inch screen, DVD-RW, ethernet and wireless built-in. So it's still pretty respectable performance. I used to find that toshiba laptops tended to be heavier than sonys but I don't know if that is still true or not.

I have never owned a sony,toshiba,IBM.
Therefore I can't judge much.
But usually toshiba gets the nod aheah of sony as far as I have searched in net.
Perhaps its ideal for u and thats why?
Could u post which model it is (so that I can compare)

Didn't know that!
They do make innovations.
IBM i mean.
But they are hell of a lot more expensive right?
Do u have one?U probabaly do.
Anyway for me i only need a laptop that can handle games!!
But for buisness , workstations perhaps IBM is a good choice.
One more question how long have u had this lapop?
And any compliants which r relevent?
This can help those who look at this discussion for information.

I prefer Dell mainly because I'm so used to it already. My first desktop was a Dell and then bought a Dell laptop. Performance is 5,price is 4, service 4 and reliability is 4.

I bought an HP for college because I needed something that could run a few simple programs and not die on me. Spent roughly 600 on it, caught it on sale too! It does everything I need it to, my desktop is what I made for gaming so it all works out. A gaming laptop would be nice so I don't have to bring my desktop everywhere. But that would cost like $3,000 and have a 10 minute battery life.

Thats not entirely true
U can get a decent rig a be proud to carry it around.
Battery drains away easily when u play games .
Else its almost like normal laptop
If u look to buy gaming one I suggest u pick dell 13 XPS studio or 16 XPS studio.
They r both razor sharp!

If you want to combine all four of them go for Dell XPS series although slightly higer in price is a mindblowing laptop.. with all advanced featured .. and dell have also got a specialised support queue for the xps segment ..

Hey,
Well for me, I sort of prefer ASUS since it proves almost all the aspects you mentioned. It combines performance, good price, a good support service with good reliability. They also offer free 24 months warranty if you need it. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

I already have a laptop which is HP. It is a really good brand and has a good reputation. The make high quality products. I never had any problem with my laptop. In terms of Performance, Reliability and Service I would give a 5. However in terms of price, I would probably give a 4.
Another really good brand which is well known over the world, is Dell. I used one of those before and never had any problem with it. I would give it the same rating as I gave the HP. Both brands are really good but a bit pricey.

My dad has brought a hp.
Haven't seen it though.
But I personally use my sisters dell 1520.
Find it superb.Have put it through a lot(play games a lot /combined with extreme overclocking/CPU undervolting)yet it hasn't broke a sweat!
