it is 6:10 on Friday, Sept 4th, and we have a small, violent cell of rain right over the house... we just had a Flash/Bang! you know, bright flash and BOOM! - it won't be here long, its a little cell, but it sure is packing a punch - I hope it RAINS hard!

Wow! Sounds like quite an event. Down here in the basement we can hear the bangs, but we don't really see the flashes, because we're under ground. LOL But I have had some good views of those things in the past when I lived above ground. Being under here is nice for my husband who tends to get spooked by loud noises. It's like a bomb-shelter down here, so it's OK with him. LOL

We had a little flash/bang in the early hours of Friday am. Nice bit of rain but the lightning blew out the computer router. So my daughter had to go by another one. Since she and all but the youngest child went to Houston for the holiday there was no way I or her husband were going to go without internet. LOL!

I love a good storm! Unfortunately, my dog Gus is terrified and he's in my lap the whole time. I sleep better during a storm, I feel better on rainy days. Hope you enjoyed your light and sound show, God certainly knows how to entertain!

didn't last long, but we did have a 5 minute spell with no power - we sat in the front room with one flashlight pointed at the ceiling - just because we didn't want the roomie to move and step on the kitten (who was wandering around on the floor)

I sure hope it rains for you as well. You are in a drought aren't you? I hope you get plenty of rain for all around.

Enjoy the drama of it all, but a hard rain won't help much after an extended period of drought. It just makes a mess and the dry earth doesn't hold the moisture.

true - to an extent.. we've had just enough rain lately to soften the earth a bit, so this might've soaked in better than it would've if it had done this first of last month - another bit of good news is that we have water retention ponds that will catch some of this and allow it to sink into the ground...

Can you send us some of that cell of rain? We sure need it in California. Plus I love rain storms as I will sew by the hour. I can't quite figure out how come I love sewing when it rains, but the two have always gone together for me.
We were talking about lightening storms the other night, and I mentioned about one I had been in when we were in Florida. You know, count the seconds and you know how far away it is...well there was one storm where we had the lightening hit right beside the house. We were too busy crapping ourselves in unison to even bother with counting the seconds. The lightening hit about 6 feet from the house!!!

I will not kid you, this was a TINY cell of rain, barely as big as Austin, but it gave us some nice rain - wish I could've sent it over the fire, but the fire would've killed it being so small....
Yeah, I used to stay in a high rise dormitory in college and there were a few nights I woke up 6 inches off the mattress because lightening hit the lightening rod on the roof...

Welcome to our world, about three days a week all spring and part of the summer. Do hope for too hard a rain. All we had were flood warnings and a lot of places did flood.

[b]Well, it fricasseed both my computers, temporarily, as you know. But thanks to you, I at least now have a task bar again-though it's a different one than I had--but it's actually easier to use than the old one! Yay! So the storm not only brought desperately-needed water, it gave me easier access to stuff!
Still, even though it did rain hard, we need more! Do you recall Father David, the priest we had that always prayed up rain when we needed it? It was like he had a special connection to God's ear!
