Don't blink, you'll miss me! LOL

I debated about whether to email you all, or do a discussion, but a discussion won out.......... Some of you know that my oldest son Devon had cancer two years ago. For the past year he has been back in Ontario, working and getting on with his life. Awhile ago, he called me and told me he thinks his symptoms have returned. He's terrified and so am I. He needs me with him, and I need to be there for him.... So I've been MIA here on and off for the last month or so, making the money I needed to pay for a plane ticket back to Ontario, as well as expenses while I'm there. I currently plan to be there for almost two weeks, and longer if he needs to go back into treatment. I will be taking him to the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, which is one of the best in the world as coming back here to go to the hospital he was originally at, is just not an option with the hubs away for weeks at a time. Today, I bought my ticket! Mind you, the cost was nearly a hundred dollars more than I expected because of the recent jump in fuel prices here, but the ticket is bought and the hubs will have to live on less than $200.00 bucks left in the bank account until payday in the middle of the month! LOL I will be flying out of Saskatchewan in the wee hours of the morning on Sept. 18th and plan on returning in the wee hours of the morning on the 30th of Sept., unless I need to stay longer. I can't take my computer with me, so I'll be off lot for that long at least. When I can, I will find a computer/cyber cafe so I can check my emails which I will answer if I have the time. So don't blink. You'll miss me....................you will won't you? LOL What kind of things keep you offline from time to time...........besides life in general. Be creative. LOL

Hey Handsome! Well you know why I'm going to Toronto. But I am determined and so is my son, that the entire visit will not be overshadowed by his illness, so he's already planned a day trip around the city for me, so lots of great photo ops and I'll be sure to take some special ones for you!

Thoughts and prayers for you Sparks, and for Devon. I hope having you there will chase some of the terrors away. I am not here as much lately as I would like to be. I have rejoined another social/paying site, but my big deal is that I do freelance work, and I am in a management position at my daytime, real life job. Oh How I wish I just worked on the computer.I love my job and am grateful to have it, but it takes me away from my friends. I am glad you did notify us by discussion, this way I do at least get to see what is going on.

I know we have a lot of friends in common. As for my work life, I have just been backwards. We are of the same age or pretty close. I just really started on a career in January, though. Previously I have just had jobs all my life, if you know what I mean. Hubby is older, and if I can figure a way to do it, we will travel more and have more fun, as I lost one hubby without getting to do that much. I so enjoy all the people I meet online, though.

Hey Gerty it's so good to see you and I was shocked when I saw your friends request as I thought you were already on it! LOL I'm at an age, but with a hard working hubs, where I can't work outside the house anymore, so without my computer I'd be totally lost and no longer have any social skills! LOL But I do miss my working years.............Hugs to you sweets.

I know exactly what you mean. And good on you for starting a real career now. I admire that no end! I'd still be working at mine if my back was stronger.....but then it was my career that destroyed my back in the first place. lol I wish you great success in your new venture Gerty and yes, do travel more with the hubs. We appreciate things like that so much more at our age, as we tend to move slower and get to smell the roses along the way! LOL

sparks this is moon, I'm still at mothers and will leave for home later today. I hope and have been praying that Devon has not got cancer again. You have also been in my prayers as you know. You take care and you two be there for each other. Our children no matter how grown they are we feel the need to be there for them when they are sick and they always want us there as well when they are sick. This never changes. Don't worry about the hubby, he will make do as he needs too. They always do, lol. Take care and do be in touch when you can. It's no big deal if you can not. I will understand. You will have much more taking your time and energy over there. Tell Devon hello and I send my love to you all.

Yes, we must take care of us so we can care for the needs of others. I just got home a little bit ago. I tried to beat the rain when leaving mothers. The boys are the only ones at home to greet me. I have had a small bowl of ice cream and will soon lay down and rest. Who is going to take care of Spunky while you are gone? She sure will miss you. I know that. Mine miss me a lot. My brother is at mothers too and he will be until Monday afternoon. It's nice that he gets up from the coast to visit with her when he can. It was really nice for me to see him and get some time with him as well. Maybe you will get a chance to visit with a couple of people when you go be with Devon.

Welcome home, moonbeam! I hope you're getting some rest. YOu must be so tired....... The hubs is going to keep Spunky with him. We're getting her groomed the day before I leave, as we couldn't get it done yesterday as planned. It's the only way the hubs will keep her as her winter coat drives him nuts. lol But she'll be brushed out, bathed, trimmed and gorgeous for him and he'll have nothing to complain about then. I'm glad you got to see your brother. I'll be seeing my parents and my friend AnnieOakley of course......and maybe my sister and younger brother if they come to my parents. Everyone lives in different cities and I just won't have the time to travel all over. My parents are in Thornhill, just north of Toronto so I can get to their place by subway from Devon's. Talk soon, after you've had a rest. Hugs.

Hey moonbeam! Give your mum a hug for me will ya? I know you're busy and will be in touch when you can and I will too. And yeah, the hubs can take care of himself. lol He'll probably go visit his own mum on his days off while I'm away. He wants to take her fishing! LOL I'll keep in touch with you as best I can, no worries. Love and miss you and you take care of yourself too ok? Don't need all of us going down for the count at the same time. lol

Hello spark, A prayer was just sent on your Son's behalf. I truly feel for you and him. But I also STRONGLY believe in Faith, and I choose to believe that our heavenly Father will touch your Son and he will be healed. Many Blessings and Hugs to you ! PS: Many prayers are being said by members of myLot and I believe it would be good to get as many prayers as possible, so whoever reads this, please consider going to some of the prayer request sites and request a prayer for Devon. Thank you www.unity.org/prayer/index.html

Wow! Thank you so much, and welcome to the lot. Prayers and a global prayer circle helped him the first time, and I have complete faith it will so again. And if you see any of my other threads here, you will find that the magic of the lot has worked for another friend of mine and fellow mylotter whose life partner had a terrible accident yesterday and nearly lost his eye. The mylot community came together in prayer and his eye was saved. So you have joined a warm and wonderful community here sweets and you are most welcome.

Will do. And thanks again for your kindness. Be warned though, like any large community, there are lots of people here who are not so nice. Don't let it get you down. A sense of humor is the best weapon against the trolls and troublemakers here I've found. Once you've built up your friends list though, you'll have all the support you need.........or just call on me. lol I'm an old hand at 'putting out the fires of dissention' here.

Oh Hello Spark,Thank you for the warm welcome. I also have witnessed on a few occasions the power of prayer, a friend of mine who's young brother was diagnosed with cancer some 10 years ago was healed and I know it was because of the many Prayers that were send from Friends family and online prayer sites. whenever there is an urgent need for prayer I humbly request them from prayer sites as well as friends and Family members. Prayers work as you know. As for the myLot members, I knew the moment I signed up that this is a warm and caring community, who would not want to be part of this? Please also take care of yourself as I am sure this is a trying time for you. Hugs and Blessings Liane

You know Gabs, as much as I hate you worrying, it's almost comforting to know that you do. It makes me feel like I'm not alone...........I love you for that. And of course, Devon will be getting BIG hugs and lots of love from you through me. Thank you for that too. Well it's 2am here and I need to get some sleep as it's been a very long day. The hubs had to go back to work today and so we missed our weekend together.

sad to hear that they symptoms went back again. hope every thing will be okay soon. i know that the hospitals in Canada is one of the best in the world and your child is lucky to be treated there. i am sure nothing serious will happen any more. it is just some minor symptoms that can easily be treated hopefully.

School holidays usually keep me far, far away from my computer and into play centres, playgrounds, children’s films etc. Good luck sparks come back and let us know how he is as soon as you can...My thoughts are with both of you...
