Small Pleasures in Life?

What are your small pleasures in life? What are the moments that, although have no impact on your actual life, and wouldn't matter if they happened or not, just add that extra brightness to your day?
For me, it's:
- Being Given Free Samples (Mainly Candy or Drinks)
- Being Complimented by Complete Strangers
- Finding Money in the Street (Even the Smallest of Coins Brings a Smile to my Face)
I want to hear your pleasures, fellow MyLotters.

I appreciate your direction in life. You appear to be a generous man with your desire to help your fellow human, and one day, it shall be rewarded if it hasn't already.

Hehehe.. I like this topic. It has made me smile already. I guess that means this is one of my small pleasure in life, mylotting and reading interesting and topics.
Another simple pleasure in my life is being able to buy a treat for my dogs. I just love giving them what they like even it is in small packs of biscuits. But nothing can beat a burger or a hotdog on sticks and a soda for me. Just having them for snacks every once in a while puts a big smile on my face.
Ciao!

Thanks for the comment! I must say, from what little time I've spent with this community, it sure is a friendly bunch.
On topic, isn't it just wonderful every time your dog (or a dog you are familiar with) jumps onto your lap, wanting nothing more than to lay there peacefully? That is another one of life's small pleasures that puts a smile on my face.

the main small pleasure in my life has got to be food. whenever i feel down or upset, all it takes is a good meal to make me feel better. having had a good meal really makes me feel happy. another small pleasure in my life will be cooking a good meal for my family. it is a really good feeling to see my family wolf down what i cooked. snaring a bargain will be yet another small pleasure in my life. it doesn't have to save me tons of money, as long as i manage to get what i need at a lower price it's good enough for me.

Ah yes, I know what you mean. No matter what troubles or drama is happening in my life, I feel that I can at least brush them to one side for a moment whilst tucking into a delicious meal.

Hey,
Yea, as you have just said above, I think that when I find some money on the street or whatever, then it always brings a small smile to my face. But then again, someone would have lost that money and made them sad. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Haha, I know what you mean. It's as though we are benefiting from somebody's loss (although I doubt they'd be too bothered if it was small change). I cover up my guilt by thinking that there is next to no chance of finding whoever dropped the money I found, so I take the privilege of spending it wisely for them ;)

Of course everyone has small pleasures in life. I consider small pleasures if im invited to attend free seminars, free tasting and free shows. I consider compliments too as small pleasures. Winning small prizes are also small pleasures.

It's true that many of the best things in life are given to us for free.

I am the type of person who does not take life for granted. I enjoy the small things in life. Have you ever just sat outside on a nice day and listen to the birds, and squirrels running around in the forest? This gives me peace. I've traveled around the world and have seen many things, but the simple things in life are the ones which we should enjoy--this is God's gift to us--free of charge.

Travelled the world? I bet you've experienced tonnes of new adventures and cultures. Care to share what places you've visited in particular?

I love making imitation jwellary at home and I present them to my near and dear ones, the happiness which comes on their face when they get a nice piece of jwellary gives me immense pleasure. Similarly when a person behaves in a nice manner to me even that gives me pleasure.

I have to agree with you there. I find it amazing how certain individuals can often forget how to be nice and polite, despite it costing nothing.

hi Mr.Kennedy, i think for me there can be many. like i love to gift people and i love that feeling that comes after gifting. then one thing i like the most is our little one laughing and trying to speak and i also love the feeling when i go to the temple and distribute fruits, bread and all to them and the smile that comes on their faces, i love that. i also love to watch my baby being naughty and playful

You visit a temple regularly? Would you care to tell me more about such a place if it isn't too much bother because I would love to know more about this temple that obviously means plenty to you.

I am a cat lover, so a healthy cat sitting in someone's window or lying on the porch makes me smile. I also like flowers and enjoy seeing a neatly landscaped yard with at least a few flowers. Blooming wildflowers that crop up in unexpected places also get a smile from me. Weeds get a frown. Cute, well behaved children rate a smile, but bratty ones get a frown.

i do think that simple pleasures in one's life depend on the current situation. like me, i have a 3 year old who goes to school about 4 houses away. i'd be happy already if i could get him on time there since he didn't make a poo poo when it's almost time to go .

The first thought that comes to mind when I think of a small pleasure in life would have to be this,
whenever I am out and about as in going somewhere and we drive by somebody whether they are in their yard or just walking down the street, I like to give them a wave. Nod my head and smile at whoever it is. It just makes me feel good and especially nice when somebody happens to smile and wave hello first.

I love that too. It feels as though such a person truly appreciates you. On the subject of driving, isn't it just a delight any time a song you absolutely adore is unexpectedly played on the Radio?

I seem to be an oddball when it comes to my little pleasures. None the less I find them enjoyable. I love falling asleep to the sound of rain hitting my roof and windows at night. I sleep the best when this happens. I love hearing my children laugh. Their sweet little voices just make my day. I love the feel of a nice crisp fall breeze in the air along with the smell of burning leaves and the change of the seasons. The smell, the lights, and the atmosphere of the fair in September. Those are a few of my favorite things.

Thanks for reminding me of another pleasure that slipped my mind: Rain.
I just love being cooped up in the comfort of my home whilst a torrent of rain is lashing against my windows, creating a hypnotic pattering sound! You just cannot beat that feeling. Apparently, we humans are attracted to this sound because it is similar to the sound we would have heard within our Mother's womb, thus giving a stimulation of peace and comfort.

My grandfather was a master of small pleasures.
Give him a cup of tea and a cookie and he would treat it like a Japanese tea ceremony.
He would feel the warmth of the cup and the aroma of the tea. He would savor the first sip and the first bite of the cookie.
When he walked down the street he really would stop to "smell the roses".
I used to think it was a pain in the neck but now I see that he managed to wring more happiness from everyday life than most people.

Good discussion! Simple pleasures are the aroma of fresh brewed coffee drifting through the house when you first wake up--thank goodness for programable coffee makers! I also enjoy sitting out on the porch and watching the wildlife--butterflies, birds, dragonflies, squirrels, rabbits, etc.
Another favorite is the smile on my grandson's face when he first sees me when pulling up in our driveway. That's precious!

My small pleasure is eating ice cream when watching my favorite soap. One of my biggest is seeing and feeling how much my 3 dogs love me.

Depends on what kind of a person you are.A person with high notions cannot find pleasure in trivial things but a down to earth person can find it in in the little thing around him.I am a simple person -so I easliy find pleasure in small things .When my work is finished in time I feel highly elated. When i meet my friends I am enthralled .When I help someone whether a friend or an acquaintance or a needy unknown my pleasure doubles up.When I meet my children or even speak to them I am greatly thrilled.Ofcourse when the money comes to my hand I feel excited .Even a bloomed flower makes me smaile and I look up to God .The nature around me including rain full moon and other things builds up my happiness .So it is all the matter of the mind that enables us to find pleasure.

My greatest small pleasure is that every night my kitty lays on my chest and pats my nose. If I'm distracted, watching TV, she will reach her paw up to my cheek and pull my face toward her to make me look at her. She kisses my nose, too. She does this without fail and it is so sweet and cute.

My simple pleasures in life are alot like yours and more:
1. Being kissed by my wife
2. Receiving a hug from my children
3. Watching a movie with my family
4. Being Given Free Samples
5. Being Complimented by Complete Strangers
6. Finding Money in the Street and earning money online
7. Finding out that someone joined one of my online opportunities without me asking them
8. Receiving a thank you card from a co-worker
9. Receiving a surprise gift for my birthday or just out of the blue in general
10. Winning a raffle or contest that I completely forgot I entered
Those are the main ones that I can think of off the top of my head right now. There are many more. As I enjoy life in general and it doesn't really take much to get a smile out of me. I think more people should find something to be excited about of just to simply smile about in life verses being some depressed or negative all of the time. It's a time of enjoyment and not ruining a mood.

My small pleasure would have to be the humming bird that greets me every morning while I'm washing dishes. It's has to be the cutest thing by far.
