Well recently there was an incident, where a couple inspired by the TV reality show "Sach ka saamna", started asking each other some questions. husband asked his wife if she had an extra marital affair and she admitted that she did. tats it the husband murdered his wife. Very sad... not only that i have seen people discuss abt those shows for hours.. jus wasting their time for nothing.. especially at work.. strange.. i wud never waste my precious time in discussing those shows at work or where ever.. wud u?

I'm from china, where reality shows are not so popular. I've learnt that these shows in USA are kind of common and of entertainment, also it is exaggerated. There are not much in it for us to feel, to learn, and to be moved. However in my country, reality show has the fuction of inspiring and promoting, which can be seen as a useful tool. I consider it as dynamics for society.

Cfc, if you want to feel, learn, and be moved by a reality show, then check out my response below. There are two shows that do that well: Extreme Home Makeover and The Biggest Loser. You should be able to find episodes of both online.

I don't know what show you're talking about in particular, but I do believe that most reality shows.. kill our brain cells. Not all of them, though. There are a couple of good ones, but mostly, they're trashy, scandalous, and should only be used for entertainment purposes. The catch with "reality" shows is that most of them are scripted! I would much rather watch a drama or whatever kind of show that I KNOW isn't "pretending" to be 'real'.

i think reality tv shows has good effect on that people which watch reality tv shows with pessimistic thinking and have bad effect on that people who watch Reality TV Show or any other tv show with optimistic thinks. as in society both type of people and have equal effect. by the watch i love to watch reality tv show because reality tv shows creates an arouse or elicit feeling in my mind. more-ever in reality tv shows we have to see an unusual activities or creativity performed by the characters of reality tv shows. these thing learn us more which we can never gain form any other thing. so if you will see reality tv show with pessimistic think then it has very good effect. by the way you can watch my favorite reality tv shows on http://download-tvshows.com/reality-tv-shows

Sad to hear about that particular incident, but not all reality shows are bad. There are four which pop into my head right away that I would consider beneficial to society. Those would be: Design Star, The Next Food Network Star, America's Got Talent and The Biggest Loser. The first two are creatively giving to the world. Design Star focuses on up and coming interior designers, so I always gain fresh, new ideas for home decor by watching this one. The Next Food Network Star is, as it suggests, all about food and upcoming chefs/TV personalities. I learn clever tricks to use in my kitchen and new ingredients or twists to add into my recipe collection. The second two give lessons time and again about believing in yourself, inspring others, and to never give up on a dream. America's Got Talent showcases folks from all walks of life with incredible talents. In particular, this season, there is a 75-year-old grandmother who has motivated me to keep pursuing my dream. Grandma Lee is now in the finals as a comedian and I hope she wins! The Biggest Loser is also motivational, even if you don't struggle with weight issues. It is easy to get wrapped up in the contestant's stories, to see a piece of yourself in them, and to start rooting for them to succeed in their journey. If anyone hasn't seen these shows, I highly recommend checking them out. All four of them add meaning and value to my life in different ways. Enjoy! :) P.S. I just thought of a fifth show, Extreme Home Makeover, as this show is all about giving back and helping those around us. Talk about insprational!

I think a good portion of reality shows are definitely pointless and do nothing but encourage rude and bad behavoir. But there have been a few that I've really enjoyed like 'Kid Nation' where a groupd of 40 kids ranging from 8-14 had to run their own town and pretty much had to clean, cook, and make huge decisions on their own. Also the show 'The Alaska Experiment' is a good show too. But the ones where you stick a bunch of non-compatible people in a house jsut to watch the drama is ridiculous and a waste of time.

i don't think these shows should ever influence me, be it bad or good influence. one should weigh whether what u see on tv is doing one good or not, if they can be applicable to real life or not. that is why some tv shows are for mature audiences only.

Some reality shows are ok. Most of them though, should not even be shown on TV due to some scandalous behavior and language. I think that "banning" them from the media is impossible. It is I think the parents' responsibility to filter out what they kids should and shouldn't watch. After all, parents raise their kids, not the media.
