I try not to wear perfume anywhere that I might encounter people with allergies to it-such as the workplace or doctor's office. If I really feel the need to "fragrance" myself, I will wear an essential oil or use a scented body-wash, etc. My husband is allergic to some perfumes/fragranced products, so I know how irritating it can be for those who suffer from allergies.

Hi,
I was wondering if you were aware that there is a lot of chemicals in our body washes and shampoos, etc. These are used to make the smells in your products more potent. This is probably why your husband has allergic reactions to fragrances. I discovered a company a few months ago that is deligent about not putting chemicals in their products. I have a few friends who have always had problems with products with any scent and they tried mine and had no reactions. If you are interested in more info please contact me at loreitah@msn.com.

People would think I was weird if I wore purfume...I'm a guy...lol...I wear cologne...but if I was with or worked close with someone who was allergic...I'd hold back.

Thanks for answering. I have had problems at work because someone refused to tone down/not wear their strong perfume. It usually doesn't bother me if the person is working at some distance. But, often I have to work in tight spaces. I've also had a problem at church, too.
I know it's my problem, but I was just curious as to what other people think. I've had some people refuse to do anything about it when they know it's causing someone else's health problem.

I am also allergic to perfume. But even more so to the "propellent" in the perfumes (what makes the smell spread.) My allergiest (now retired) gave me drops & shots for it, but some perfumes can still make my head spin or become short of breath.

I know what you mean. I'm actually allergic to whatever causes the scent. I wish I could wear it, but I can't. But, it's just as well as I wouldn't want to make other people sick by wearing it.

That's good that you don't wear it if someone you had daily contact with is allergic to it. Does that also include an office mate that you share a cubicle or office with? Do you wear it strong, or just a spritz. I'm not picking on you specifically, I was just wondering overall.

I do wear perfume but not always because some scents can really give me migraines. I hate wearing just one distinct perfume because after 5 straight days of using a specific perfume, my nostrils get tired of the scent that I'd have to get a new one. I don't think I've ever finished a perfume right to the bottom of the bottle. If I knew someone's allergic, I'm responsible enough not to put perfume on.

Thanks! Sometimes, my allergies are not that bad and I can tolerate some perfumes for short periods of time. But, sometimes my allergies can get pretty bad.

I wear perfume sometimes. Most of the time I'm in such a hurry that I forget to put some on. If someone close to me were allergic (a family member for instance) I wouldn't wear any. I have different scents for different moods.
The only time I don't like perfume is when an ol' lady has drenched herself in a cheap knock-off. I'll pass her in the mall and gag. It was 100 times worse when I was pregnant. My sense of smell was better than I would have liked it to be.

Thanks for responding.
With me, I've noticed that the more expensive the perfume is, the more I seem to be allergic to it. That's just me, though.

Thanks for your answer, my friend. At least you didn't argue with me about it.

After checking to see if I had responded to this discussion.............
I rarely wear perfume. I am sensitive, so if I do wear any it has to be light stuff.
Some of the Avon perfumes don't agree with me.
In college I was getting bad headaches, and I didn't know why. It turned out to be my perfume.

Thanks for answering. I can sometimes tolerate wearing light scents, too. But, I always find it best if I don't wear any.

I am not allergic but I never. In fact, I don't use anything except soap, sampoo, and toothpaste for my body. I like to be natural. Be natural be healthy.

Cool. While sometimes I can smell the soap and shampoo on someone, it generally doesn't bother me.
There's a girl that I think just joined my gym that wears this really strong perfume that I'm extremely allergic to. I get an asthma attack just being three feet from her. Not good while I'm exercising.

I wear perfume but if I'm allergic I'm not even going to try. If ever I am allergic and wants to wear any scent, I'll just settle with scented lotion or scented body wash gel that lets the scent stick even just for while or something.

Thanks for your response. Chances are, if you are allergic, you might not even be able to wear any kind of scent at all. Even scents that do not cause me to have asthma give me really bad rashes. I do wear scented lotion, but it doesn't really help my skin as much as the unscented ones

I am very sensitive to smells myself so if I knew that someone was allergic to scents I would not wear scented products around them.

Thanks. I get a rash when I actually wear it myself.
I get asthma when I breathe other people's perfume sometimes. Some perfumes don't seem to bother me much.

I love perfume! Every january when victoria's secret has their semi anuunal sale I'll go there and stock up on perfume! their perfumes smell so good and when they have these sales you can get some good stuff that lasts a long time for only like $3.99 when it's normally $50.00
I wouldn't wear it though if my husband was allergic to it. That's very inconsiderate and would be rude to wear it when it would make him miserable.

I've shopped at bath and body works, too. I got a mocha spray for my livingroom.
