Dogs that eat grass aren't necesarilly experiencing any kind of stomach distress. Actually, dogs eat grass because it helps their stomach digest their food easier! :) It's good for them to eat grass

ya i had heard of dogs eating grasses when they have stomach problem; but what i was surprised to see was dog eating bananas. for me i always felt dogs are obligatory carnivores. i don't know it that too was normal for them

Our vet told us that it was good for dogs to eat grass and here's some info that I never knew. They do eat it due to stomach upset and they will search and find the right kind to eat. There is a certain type of grass ( I forget the name of it) that they will find that they know helps their stomach. Nature is a wonderful thing huh?

they throw it up after chewing it, anyway. maybe they just like to eat it... just like humans, we like variety.

it can mean that they have an upset stomech but not always
it may just mean that they are lacking certain nutrients in their diet

i don't know about dogs, but my cats love green grass...certain types of course. i've been told it helps with digestion, which is a stomach thing. just be sure the grass is good and not treated with poison.

When dogs eat grass they r usually experiencing an upset stomach, heartburn or even constipation or other similar things included in the digestive system. The animal dog, cat or other will pick out a piticular type of green for what ever ails them. Don't ask me how they know, they just do, it is something that ells them it will make it go away. Similar to a old wives tale only better, a good home remedy...

there are lots of things to read here on the internet which is easier than seeing a vet for that matter. it says that may be one of the reasons, but they don't exactly know why. thanks for ur comments.

Both dogs and cats eat grass this is done i beleive when something eaten did not settle rightand eating the grass causes them to "vomit" whatever caused the discomfort.
I included cats just incase you were not aware of that if a cat is allowed to roam outside you may see them and it is a particular type of grass not just any grass is eaten by them

I have seen my dogs do this on few occasions. I usually don't interfere with their grass-eating time, I just let them do it, I guess it will make them feel better. I have seen my cats eat grass as well. When my cats and dogs regurgitate stuff or pass stool, sometimes you will see the pieces of grass in whatever came out of them. Eeewwww!

it is never a good idea to interfere when dogs are eating, grass or not.
when my eldest son was still 3 years old, he just passed by the dog eating his meal and the dog jumped on my son and bit him.
it is best to take the necessary precautions no matter how friendly the dog is.

Grass is medicine for the dog. When my dog feels sick (perhaps stomach pain), he would look for grass and eat it, then throw it up later. He'd then feel better. Dogs know which types of grass could be eaten, and which are poisonous. So it's normal for them to eat grass.
