Today's 9th September 2009, or in its numeric form, that's 09.09.09 - nice number, isn't it? To me, it is a normal day. However, the number 9 is also very significant in Malaysian politics because one of the states, Negri Sembilan, literally translated as "Nine States" will be holding the country's 9th by-election since the nation's General Elections in March 2008 last year.So that's 9th by-election, 9th month, 9 States. Will the opposition win? In addition, the Chinese regard No.9 as very auspicious, therefore, many couples got married today! Other websites have declared this special date as Interconnected Day. What about you? Is there anything special about this 090909 phenomena?

I live in the U.S and I have heard that it is a big deal and a lot of people are making a fuss over it, but I had no idea why. So thank you for enlightening about some of the reasons . But it is simply a neat thing but it really holds no significance to me besides the fact that it won't happen for another century. But that's about it *shrugs*.

I think people want to make it a big deal. Then next year on 10 Oct. 2010, it's probably gonna be a BIGGER deal because it's gonna be 101010. And there'll be celebrations and revelations ...sigh. It never ends.

Hi, I had always been reminded by the meaning of numbers... especially by number 13 because no building marks a floor with such a number. I am, however, partial for 7 and 9 because my children were born on those numbers. Must be blessed with a lucky 7 or a lucky 9. Against my belief, I had also gambled with the lotto twice in my life. No luck with such lucky numbers. That is why every number is dear to me now. As to the triple 0 and the triple 9, gosh, the hard rain soaked the school children wet yesterday and many places in the metropolis and the rural areas had been flooded. But the weddings pushed through and our political opposition declared a strong stance against formidable administration. The phenomenon could be for weddings and politics only, LOL!

Um, this is the second post on this topic today... Here is what I think, and well it may be different then what everyone else thinks. I wish I had my "A concise history of the Catholic Church" book with me. Anyways, the only people that this date should have a significance to is people that follow the Catholic Gregorian calendar. Granted, most people follow this calendar as it has been the dominate one in Britain for a few hundred years. It is only by this calendar that the date has significance. If you follow any other calendar then it will just be an ordinary day, I don't even think it is a new moon or anything like that. Are the stars coming into alignment or anything today?? Just something to make a fuss about, kinda like Y2K. I did read on the internet the other day that aliens are coming to visit though. http://gflcentral.ning.com/forum/topic/show?id=2736630:Topic:18199

Kev, 090909 has come and go and it makes no difference to me. I still live my life like it is. No fireworks, so sparks. My friend delivered her baby on the 8th though, one day short from 090909. But what can be done? The baby needs to come out, we just cant shove her back in right?

To me it is just another ordinary day, yes, like u said. But not for many others, for instance what i posted today, it is about my fren's boss, he takes this day as an auspicious day, official opening of his factory on 09/09/09 at 09.09am.. what a Day! So next year will be 10/10/10... till then, good day to you!
