Fall Recipies

Okay so fall is just about here. Time for apple picking and pumpkin carving. Warm soups and stews, bubbly macoroni and cheese. I wait for this time of year to hit so I can start making my amazing comfort food. One of my favorites is a blend of chedder, monteray jack, swiss, provolone and america cheeses melted down with butter and milk. Throw in a bunch of little shell pasta and mix into a oven safe baking dish. Top with ritz crackers all crumbled up and back for 30 minutes on 350 degrees. My mouth starts to water just thinking about it. Do you have any comfort food recipes you would like to share. I like to make my own from recipes and tinker with them a bit to personalize them! I would love to hear from you myLotters out there!

Fall recipes- just completed an assignment on that subject. How about good old pumpkin soup. Make it in the crockpot and dinner's ready when you get home. Then there's pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. Don't forget all those delicious apples at this time of year - try apple and blackberry crumble. Honestly how can you pick a favorite.

Too True! There are so many good ones. Pumpkin soup though, the one time I made it, it did not turn out very good. If you have a good recipe I would love to try it again. I have never tried the apple blackberry combo. That sounds very good. Thanks!

hi jodylee hatley here. my most comforting food when I had'my own kitchen, which I do not now as i am in this retirement place, was my spaghetti with italian meatballs and always I used bertolli spaghetti thin and bertolli sauce with olive oil, olives, and meat,so good'and always perfect.I never overcooked it and added plenty of garlic and some basil too. really good comforting food. they do do apretty good spaghetti here for which I am thankful.sometimes I would slice ripe tomatoes and greenpeppers and add to the sauce at the last moment just to heat through so the peppers were a bit crunchy. really good.

I just started putting olives in my spag sauce. It is a wonderful treat. Lots of garlic as well. I am a huge fan. I will try the tomatoes and green peppers. Is that a family recipe or something you perfected over the years?

That sounds pretty good. I like making those comfort foods too, when the weather is cooler. I made some homemade mac and cheese just last week. It was pretty good. I also like making other things like meatloaf which is a great cool weather type comfort food. I also like making apple crisp. It is really great and something that I look forward to making in the fall season.

How do you make your meatloaf. I have a decent recipe but I tend to steer away form making it because no one in my family really likes it. Do you mind sharing? I am planning to go apple picking in a couple weeks and so look forward to apple crisp!

Sometimes I take a box of jiffy cornbread mix, large jar of spaghetti sauce set them aside then season and cook ground beef or turkey, season and cook mixed vegetables, and then layer the mixed veggies, spaghetti sauce and meat in a pan and then top it with the jiffy cornbread mix and then set it in the oven until the cornbread is a golden brown. Let it cool down some and serve. The kids love it. Sometimes I layer cheese in the layering process too.

That is a terrific idea. I bet it is even better the next day for lunch after all ingredients do there thing in the fridge. It sounds a lot like a mix between lasagna and shepard's pie but the corn bread is a terrific twist! Thanks for that idea. I think I will try it with the cheese, just because I am a bit of a cheese fanatic!
