She is six and I have been waiting for her teeth to fall out on their own. I am embarrassed and scared of taking her to the dentist. Will they take her away from me? She brushes her teeth everyday but this has not helped at all. What should I do?

Because I have seen pictures at several dentist offices of cases where mothers get their children taken away for being neglectful of their dental hygiene. I am desperate. I don't wanna lose my baby. I want to take her to the dentist but what if they take away my baby?.... I wouldn't stand it. I brought a whole bunch of different kinds of natural toothpaste for children and mouthwash but none of this has helped. I guess I must build up the courage to take her.

Please don't be embarrassed or frightened, sometimes these thiings just happen. It is certainly not your fault, or her fault. That being said, however, you need to take her to a dentist. Decaying teeth can result in infections and can often damage the permanent teeth coming in behind them.
I can't imagine anyone taking your child away because of tooth decay. Goodness, we wouldn't have any children left living at home! Dentists pull teeth and fill cavities every day, it is in no way indicative of you being a bad mom.

You should take her in immediately. Rotting teeth can lead to a bad infection - something that has the ability to, quite literally, kill her.
You can discuss these issues with your dentist re: why her teeth are in such bad shape when she's brushing.
You shouldn't have let it go this long. If you let it continue, you could end up with a seriously ill child. Then you really will have something to worry about as far as her being taken away.

When my daughter was 5, she had bad teeth too. That's because she takes the bottle to sleep and she drinks Ribena. So her teeth were rotten and really bad. I had to bring her to the dentist and the dentist advised me to extract all the bad teeth and there were about nine teeth. They had to put her under so they can extract all the teeth. Nothing happened to me. They didn't accuse me of neglect or anything. They didn't take her away from me. I advise you to take your doctor quickly to the dentist and repair her teeth. Don't worry so much.

the best thing to do is see a dentist ASAP. he is the only legitimate person who can answer and solve ur problem.
u should not let ur child see that u, urself, are scared of seeing a dentist.
on the other hand, parents should train them to always visit a dentist on a regular basis to conquer their fear and develop a personal "liking" instead.

Go ahead and take her to the dentist. Why would they take her away. Failure to do something about it would look worse that taking her in to have the problem fixed. My baby, when she was 2 years old had to go in to have 10 teeth worked on. Her teeth were bad, but not because they were not taken care of. I made sure they were brushed properly and all. It was just genetics. One dentist tried to tell me it was from her nursing...but she wasn't too bright. She infuriated me to the point that I found a new dentist...she bent the novacaine needle when it was injected in my babies gums. But, the second dentist I took her to took care of her. She has had to have some of the work redone over the past 4 years, and has had to have new work done, and no one has ever said I don't take care of her. So, I would go ahead and have your little one looked at.
