Okay.. so I think WAY to much. And its starting to get worse.. And I start to doubt things that I know are good things in my life.. because I end up questioning why I feel that way, why do I want this?..
And it is ridiculous because I don't need to know those things! Its like not everyone needs to know exactly how a rainbow is made they can just enjoy how it looks when they see it. So does anyone have advice as to what I can do to keep from thinking so much?

You are as you are. You don´t want to have brain surgery to stop thinking.. Ever since the world began, man has wondered about it and about himself. It´s part of being alive and concious. You must feel grateful that you have that in you. I know what it is. I provokes suffering many times, but I wouldn´t change it for anything. You can also be aware of yourself, of the others, of the world.
It is not ridiculous at all. It´s the best we have. Be grateful that you have a gift and learn to use it wisely.
I suggest you star to write your thoughts. Or paint. Discover in what way you can expresas all this. Find your language.
Take care!

thinking is just so part of my life. but worrying should not be a normal thing if done excessively or if it makes our lives miserable and we should face our problem and do need to take some steps to over come things that makes us worry a lot. cause this kind of problem will not only affect us while we are experiencing this troubling thoughts but it will have repercussion in our future lives that in a way we will worry for smallest of reasons if we make worrying a habit. we should control our emotions and not to worry much.

I am so like you in this regard. LOL I have made jokes in the past about how much I think in reference to myself while talking to others about my "problem." If someone tells me the sky is blue, I question what is blue and what makes things green or purple (spin-offs from blue.) And it goes on and on and on....Of course this is merely an example-my thoughts are about life, emotion, etc. The older I get, the more I think of everything, and seriously some of my thoughts disturb me. I wish I could turn my head off! I don't have an answer for ya, Phoenix. Maybe we could start a Thinkers Club here on Mylot and have group sessions. LOL

First, you might think of some type of class or time to yourself just to relax. Like yoga or karate. You know something to distract you. Also, write done the stuff you think of know matter how little you need it or not. Maybe, if you write it down they you will get it off your mind. If none of this works then maybe, you are just stressed about something and your mind is over working to try to find out what really is bothering me. Example: I was over thinking so bad I would think of how many tiles was on the ceiling when I was trying to go to sleep at night and how they where made, who put them there. What was really bothering me and it took me months to figure out was that in the back of my mind I felt something in my life was not right. But, I did not know what. My ex-husband was cheating on me and I never knew it but then little clues start to make bigger clues and one day I opened my eye's and the clue's just fit! I stopped over thinking after the divorce. I am now able to sleep easily and I have a very happy life with my new husband. My ex-hubby is very happy with his new wife and we are even nice to each other now! Weird how everything works. But, maybe, that is all it takes is just finding out what really is bothering you! Good Luck!

Hi phoenix, looks to me like u have too much time on ur hand. And so u let it stray in every territory - achieving nothing. U do need 2 set some objective and start working towards that goal. Can be anything like earning 50 dollars on mylot within a month may be. Check whether this helps. Because u will continue to think, but on things that u need to think of. Effectively, u would have gained control on ur thinking process, instead of it spreading like the flubber. Whenever I go thru such a bout, I tend to listen to music, sing something, or read jokes. C if these help. I hope I was of some help.

hi there! a nice sleep, water and human interaction would do. u may learn things from them. i have a friend who also thinks too much when he's to totally pressured from work or staying only at home. what we do is we talk to him or invite him somewhereelse so we can divert his attention from the worries. and also breathe deeply. it will help u relax. i hope this would help. :)

It's not ridiculous, it's rather natural to have a questioning mind. Actually it is the proof of an healthy mind. Those that do no philosophe their own thoughts and actions usually don't go far in life. So you're well of miss, just try distracting yourself more every now and then whenever it gets too restless.

oh. i think that if we don't have security or if there is something lacking in our lives that we tend to think much about life. which is the case with me. i do think that finding a cure is hard. all we can do is to welcome any solutions that will present itself in front of us. that we should recognize for what it is and accept it so that we can solve our problems in life. i do missed a lot of opportunities or let those possible solutions pass by me cause i failed to recognize it for what it is . but i do hope that they will come back. i still need to be sensitive about situations and do not take things for granted and so that i will have no regret over decisions i make in life.

Hehe if you do find one, please share.
I have the same problem and Ive had it since I was a child or as far as I can remember. I tend to analyze things and pick through things a lot. No, I dont pick at people's mistakes if that's what you're wondering. I just have a lot on my mind. Sometimes when I am talking to someone, I am multitasking by figuring something out in the back of my mind. It's crazy.
I try to practice meditation to control my thoughts. When you've learnt how to focus then you can easily "reboot" yourself.
It helps and works for me

Personally, I think you should allow yourself to answer or try to answer any questions that you may have about anything. There is a good and healthy reason why the mind thinks: it makes the brain stronger. Not only that, but everything that has been created that makes our lives wealthy, heailthy and simplified came from someone who didn't shy away from challenging status quo. Let your thoughts grow wings and fly away. I doubt if you will lose yourself, but I believe it is possible that you may discover a new horizon.

the best way not to think too much is make yourself busy. do things that needed to be done today.

I have a tendency to do the same thing, but i'm learning to just go with my gut feeling and distract myself when i start to have doubts . It doesn't always work, but at least it helps me calm down some .

You could write it all down. Getting it all out on paper sometimes help you. Otherwise do anything that causes you to de-stress. This is what I do, anyway. Go for a run, paint, do yoga, join a kickboxing class.. I especially like doing things that are more physical. For some reason the mixture of calorie-burning and endorphin-releasing really helps me, at least, cool down and take a step away from things. I find that in my case..When I get stressed, a MILLION different thoughts jumble through my head (OMG, I over-analyze EVERYTHING when I'm stressed!), and sometimes it helps to calm down and put things into perspective once more.
Otherwise, busy yourself even more. Sometimes when I have too much time on my hands, I start think obsessively THINK. I used to be depressed, and then I got a steady part-time job. And I can almost say that because of the lack of spare-time I have now, I just don't really have TIME to be depressed - or to let my mind wander in those negative directions.
Just some (more) food for thought. Hope these help you.

I am not saying you are crazy or anything. Because I take depressants and anxiety medicine I have got to talk to a professional therapist. I worry about everything. Sometimes the things I worry about overtake me and I can't sleep because I am thinking about these situations or I am afraid i will forget what I have to do when i wake up. Talking to therapists has really help. Sometimes you need to talk to someone that knows of your situation but does not actually know the real you. It helps to get a unbias opinion sometimes and have someone to listen instead of giving opinions all the time.
