Recently, I have been waking up in the middle of the night starving. And I can't go back to bed unless I get up and go eat. I've always made it through the night before so I'm not sure why this is hapening. Let me know what you think.

hi stephwrites!
one of the many symptoms of diabetes is you thirst and get hungry easily. have you had your blood sugar checked? do your parents have diabetes? are you losing weight? do you tire easily? these are all symptoms of diabetes mellitus. i sure hope you don't have it. i do, and it's not a holiday i assure you, especially at times when i crave sweets.
take care of yourself and try to get a fasting blood sugar test, just to be sure.

Hello there, You don't say if you're diabetic or not. I have Type II Diabetese and have had it for almost 20 years now. You may wat to try having some apple slices with some peanut butter the last hour you are awake. The carbohydrate that are in the apple should be enough for your body to have for the night without you waking up, and the peanut butter is just a nice side pick up for the apple. Also you should wash it down with about 8 ounces of milk which will give you a few more carbs. All in all this is a quality snack and one I think you will enjoy.
Good Luck and...sleep tight:-)

Sometimes we go thru periods in our lives when we do things differently. If you really bother to analyze every second of your life, you may come up with an answer - and again, maybe not LOL. Meanwhile, RESISTTTTTTTTTTT!!!! Drink a cup of hot tea or get something low calorie.
I have given in to those middle of the night eating urges and regretted it the next morning because I felt sluggish. Too many of those nights and it settles on the hips. Good luck.
