I expected India to win the match and my expectations were true.. I was very sorry for New Zealand team poor batting which let them lose the game.. If New Zealand would have posted atleast 200 runs on the score board then India would struggle to reach that target.. But whatever final result is what really matters more..

India got off to their title win in the Compaq Cup with great style by beating the Black Caps quite comprehensively in the first league for them in the island nation of Sri Lanka.
New Zealand managed to just score above the 150 mark with their final score being 156. Ashish Nehra did the trick for India with the ball, early on by removing McCollum the dangerous Kiwi batsman. Earlier he had also castled the other Kiwi opener. Nehra finally claimed one more wicket to make it 3 wickets for him.
But it was more of a surprise package that it was also Yuvraj Singh who claimed 3 wickets. Yuvi's slow left-arm deliveries remained unanswerable for some of the New Zealand batsmen who might have not seen much of Yuvraj. But it may also be remembered that Yuvi has had a couple of hat tricks in the second edition of IPL.
The score of 156 really was too short for the New Zealand bowlers to defend before the famed Indian batting line up which included the likes of Sachin, Dravid Yuvraj and Dhoni. Sachin's contribution in this chase was 46. This could have been converted into a well deserved half-century for Sachin. But it was not to be. India beat the Kiwis more than comprehensively and went straight into the finals to be played on Monday the 14th of September.
With this win India has grabbed the number 1 status of ODI teams for the time ever since it was introduced.
