i live in a rural area and i am afraid to donate blood becoz here the medical equipments are not good and may be is not even sterilized. lack of knowledge and uneducation are the main reasons.

probally because a lot of people are just affraid of needles which is why they dont want to donate blood I know thats the reason for me lol. I hate getting shots since they poke me a lot since they cant find my veins. So I think thats the reason why people are affraid to donate blood.

I guess the sight of seeing one blood taken out of ones body no matter the procedure generates fright on its own.
I am of the opinion that seeing my blood taken out of my body be it consent or by injury kicks the nuts out of my head and secondly the pain associated with the lose of it. I guess..

I actually was told that I could not donate blood because I am so anemic. So no, its not due to ignorance, if your already severly anemic, they will not let you donate.. I would love to donate blood, no ignorance to it.

Hi mrinali,
Some people are afraid just of the sight of blood. In a clinic sometime I ago I was pregnant and they were doing me bloodtest like they always do. Was a Girl behind very tall and strong she saw the blood going into the tube or whatever you call it and she fainted right in front of me. If I had realised I would have turned my arm away. A bit of shock for me that one I had not realised someone big and strong could get to feel so bad about that.
There does not seem to be a logical answer I know but I think that the person who donates blood has to be healthy in good condition no sickeness so on.
I am group 0 positive for example I should be able to give but before I used to suffer from anemia every so often. I donĀ“t now but I have changed my views on all this since anyway.

In some cults or extreme beliefs, donating blood is prohibited, therefore, its followers are not encouraged to do so. Other than that, some are too afraid of seeing the pain that the needle gives when it penetrates the skin. There are also people who are afraid too see blood.
