Does anyone here have a Kindle? If so, could I get a general review? The goods AND the bads please! I'm tempted to buy one, but I want as much info as possible first.

I don't have a Kindle, but I like ebooks,so if all the factors were right,I might consider one too..Factor #1 has to be the high price..how many real books could You buy for the cost of the thing? fair enough, the device has the storage to carry a library worth of books around with You,(The Kindle 2 doesn't have a memory card reader slot like the K1 did) but why do you have to buy the library too? Factor #2 You're tied to Amazon.ok, they have a wide range of books to choose from, but you can't go elsewhere for other stuff..Factor #3 The wireless connectivity and purchase/Download capability. Good in principle,in that you can shop and download wherever there's a signal. I don't know if You read the news article on the kindle,I posted a discussion on it.. http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2077540.aspx (Amazon retrieved and deleted books downloaded onto Kindles without the owner knowing...) It's faster (K2) than K1. 16 Greyscale palete (K2) v 4 (K1) Text to speech reader included. slimmer than K1. Better battery Life-apparently over a week life is possible without the wireless link enabled, something like 4 days with it.. In Summary,If You don't mind buying books from Amazon that you can't resell or lend to a friend/Paying a fair sized lump of Wampum before even buying a book to read/don't mind the limitations of DRM imposed on You,then the Kindle could be the thing for You.. Personally,I've tried a few ebook readers in the past, and currently have one on my phone..I'm thinking I'll hold on until something more versatile comes along! good luck with your decision!

if you look carefully, the amazon kindle is a joke. will you shell out $500 for reading an ebook? i can do that on my cellphone, and much more and my cellphone has a lower price tag than the kindle !

I think it would probably be good to have but I dont have the money to buy a kindle at this time. I think that it would be something that I would like to have at some points. I just dont know when I will be able to get one. I think there are some things that are just out of my price rane right now.
