cookiebaker if you are not a gamer, i would suggest that you use widows xp media centre edition. however, you can directly shift to windows 7 instead of vista. windows 7 is a lot more stable than vista and has great GUI along with many feature additions too

cookiebaker seagate offers best reliability. WDC craves speed. if you wanna speed, then go for WDC Raptor series.

cookiebaker nod32, norton internet security, panda titanium are some of my favorites. however, none grants you a complete virus proof pc. you should use a combination of antivirus/antivirus+firewall for best results.

cookiebaker yes i find it quite true when it comes to low end products. the capacitors burn out easily these days. perhaps this has something to do with competing with other cheap &^ similar products in the market.
