Please suggest frankly which operating system is better is it windows XP or else it windows vista. windows vista is a gud looking operating system but it is becoming too slower .does it support the older version software and games.

if you are not a gamer, i would suggest that you use widows xp media centre edition. however, you can directly shift to windows 7 instead of vista. windows 7 is a lot more stable than vista and has great GUI along with many feature additions too

Like everyone else has suggested windows xp would be the better OS between xp and vista. Windows XP is more reliable in the sense that the actual system runs excellent and has a lighter load than vista does. with vista they say you need 1gb mem to run the software at min. but for the vista operating system to run fairly faster it is required to run 2gb of memory. i am running windows 7 at the moment and i absolutly love it. definetly recommend it.

I have Windows XP, Vista, and 7. I can tell you that XP is like a god. I never had a problem with Windows Vista at all, except for all the eye candy; its just not really needed. Windows 7 is the bomb fixed all the bugs Vista had and performs on par with XP. If you want more eye-candy, go with Windows 7. Want the basics? Get XP. No comment on Vista though.

Between XP and Vista? XP, as even the experts have said Vista was a big disappointment and too buggy. But don't forget Windows 7 which is the latest OS released by Microsoft and is touted as being a vast improvement.
Generally, when upgrading your OS, you usually have to update your older software, programs, drivers, etc. to maintain compatibility.

Windows XP is you safe side if your thinking of compatibility on most softwares. Also in Vista, you need to have recommended system requirements and not the minimum system requirements if you would want to run Vista with any slowness. The only thing I see good on Vista compared to XP is the networking side. It's much easier to do networking on Vista.

XP all the way! Vista just looks nicer but if you know a little bit about the computers you'll know that Vista actually still runs the XP processor. Nothing changed. The only thing is that things got much much worse with Vista. Not only that but most major companies never made the switch to Vista. The majority or them still run on XP. It's just so reliable
