I myself was eighteen when I got my first public job. It seems just like yesterday and I am now 60 years old. My first job was as a line server at a cafeteria. I worked there for nine months. I enjoyed the experience of meeting new people. When the rush hour was on it was fast-paced. Tell us how old you were when you got your first public job.

I was 20 when I landed my first job. I had to finish university first before I could apply for a job. I am now 47 and a full time stay-at-home parent.

I live in rural farm country, and here the kids have their first job at around 12 or 13 years of age. That will probably date me somewhat, but back in the days, if you wanted spending money - you worked for it.
The experience and interactions with others was good for me, and encouraged a strong work ethic that I have maintained to this day.
Now that I am nearing retirement, I have returned to college on a full-time basis, how ironic is that?

I was about 14 years old.(45 years now) It was for a company that sold Photo packages over the telephone. I too can remember it like it was yesterday. This company would come into our town once a year. I went every year and got the job. It gave me some pocket money.. It was much later before I worked at another job. It was a fast food place...Great memories..Thanks and you have a nice week...
