Or are you the kind that of person that feels a burn to spend as soon as they have money on their hands?
I have two daufghters and one is absolutly organized with money and the other feels an urge to spend as soon as she is paid. She has fought against this, but tells me it´s really difficult. She was like that since she was little.
Tell me friends, how do you manage your money?

I'm not a spender at all and I like to save for a rainy day. You never know what life is going to hand you and I always feel you need to have a back up just in case of illness, accident, unexpected bill, loss of job etc.. I rather be safe than sorry.

Do you use some of that for small luxuries? Or you are a no no spender? My eldest daughter will not buy any luxury if she can avoid it.

I don't spend unless I really need too. When shopping when I see something that I like I ask myself do I really need it. The answer is usually NO.

Hi there!
I am a saver than a spender, I want to be secured when rainy days comes. Though I don't really have a big amount on my account I invested a considerable amount for the future of my family. It has always been an issue for me and my husband as he never saves for our future, he is a good earner but he always had his way of spending his money as if he is a "one day millionaire".

i DO HAVE SOME MONEY SAVED FOR A RAINY DAY, NOT ALOT MIND U BUT IF I HADN'T HAD WHEN I HAD MY STROKE & HAD TO QUIT WORK I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN A MESS.I HAVE ALWAYS PAID MY BILLS FIRST & THEN IF THERE WAS ANYTHING LEFT OVER I TRIED TO GET WHAT I NEEDED. i;M JUST GLAD I'M NOT LIKE SO MANY PEOPLE & WANT EVERYTHING I SEE.I worry about my kids not doing that & they may , i don't say anything to them about it most of the time.

I´m so glad you could pay for your illness, friend. I also feel I´m taken care of, as the house I live is mine and I live in a good neighborhood. So I use my small pension to live, work online for vacations and quit smoking for the same reason (I still crave for the damned ciggies). If I have a mayor issue I can sell the house and get a smaller place to live.

Hi marguicha,
Money is very important thing in life and it is absolutely must to save atleat twenty five percent of what you earn. There can be some unseen circumstances where money may be needed in emergency like some accident and a person may run hugh medical bill or some other thing. I though am a student and donot earn but my Dad does save from what ever he earns per month, so that if some unexpected expenditure comes then we dont have to look for money or ask from other friends or family members.

There are many ways to save. What we did with my husband was to build us a house and pay for all of it. Now that I´m a widow, I try to live with my pension, I work online for vacations but I know that if I have any mayor issue I have a good house I can sell.

I try to, of course. But it is really difficult when you have a lot of financial responsibilities to keep in mind. In some cases, it might even be difficult trying to make both ends meet. therefore, any form of earning that is considered "extra" such as what we earn via mylot really helps to straighten out the financial issues at home.

if i have spare money, i would save it. the problem is i don't usually have spare to save. money is just enough for the month's expenses. these are hard times and we are making both ends meet.
i know we will get through this.

Putting aside some money for emergencies has been my priority since I started working. My parents taught me to spend responsibly, like buying stuff only when needed but also treating myself once in a while. Now that I gave birth to my baby girl, I'm trying to save more from my salary than usual.

For a change I can say yes. I opened a savings account with a paycheck that came in the mail over the weekend. I now have money to fall back on since I have next month's rent paid and all my bills are paid for this month. I was unemployed since I returned from teaching in China in May of 2008 so I had wiped out every semblance of money that I had ever had. Now I need to start over. I just hope that I am able to build up. Have a great day!!!

i would love to be able to save money for a rainy day but we can barely pay our bills and make ends meet. perhaps things will improve soon and we can do that. i keep my fingers crossed.

i do but i do end up spending them immediately. cause i do need to buy clothes and some things i really love to buy. and so since i don't earn much as i just stay home mostly, whatever i earn i just buy some basic items. even if i saved, whatever i will save will not be enough for emergency use or rainy day. and i just hope i will find some way to find some stable income besides extra earning online cause i don't earn well online. and i don't want to depend on my family forever. so i really have to find other ways to support myself not only to save for rainy day. but i think if i do earn real money from real job i will be good in saving money

i know. i should be working or finding a job now. it is not that too difficult actually. it is more like a situation in my family that i have to stay at home. and my mom won't let me work in other country on my own. i just can't let my mom disappointed by living my own decision cause i am still single and my mom feel while i am still single she still has a say if she will allow to work on a country i choose. my mom kind of strict you know.
i can find job here locally. but situations do change my plan a lot. and so due to circumstances, my siblings are working but me was left to be at home and care for the things at home. and most probably it is because of the culture of our country. i know in US it is totally different. it is kind of hard to explain.

Is it too difficult to find ajob in your country? I read in your profile that you are 37. In my country you should be independent at that age. Online earning is just a help.

Even a small nest-egg can save your peace of mind if an emergency or unexpected expense arises. I know that times are tough for many people right now, but we must all try to tighten our belts, so to speak.
Most of us have guilty little pleasures that we could just as well do without, although few of us are willing to give them up. Anything that you want, but do not need, can be considered excess spending.
Better to save your pennies now, and treat yourself once in awhile while you watch your savings account grow.
Tough to do? Yes, it is. But these are difficult times and we must adjust and re-evaluate our spending habits in order to survive them.

I've really tried to get into the habit of trying to put a little money aside so that I'll have something to fall back on just in case something would happen. I'm also putting the money aside so that I can have money to use for the holidays. I just want to have a little extra set aside so that I can buy gifts for people and for myself if I happen to see a really great deal during the holiday shopping season. I'd also like to have the money set aside so if at some point I want to go out and buy myself something I've got the chance. I may end up using some of the money to go ahead and buy myself a birthday gift next week.

I use all my online earnings for vacations, but won´t touch other sources of esrnings for that. I´m not that young anymore and you need some money just in case.

I have always been a saver and up until this year have saved at least 20% of my income each year even during the last 20 years when I have been unemployed and living off of my investments that I made with my savings. This year I will still save but my income is way down because of the recession and the drastic cuts in dividends paid by stocks so I will probably only save between 5% to 10%.

I used to be a SAVER type of person before I got married. Right now, I'm more of a SPENDER type. I do the grocery and paying of bills. My husband earns while I spend. Whatever is left is considered as our savings.
Recently, I'm reading a book entitled "the millionaire next door....", the book mentioned about how to spend money wisely. And also buying items of your money's worth. The author mentioned that we need to have an ATTITUDE OF SAVING FIRST BEFORE SPENDING. Like keeping up at least 10-20% of the income and place it into savings, before spending or paying expenses.
After learning the concept of savings of the author. I decided to set aside the 10% of my husband salary to our savings account. This will be our forced savings for our rainy days.

yes i tries but every time i saved money it also comes with a big problem that required more expenses, like problem with health, job or etc that you will also need to use your savings. so from then i already change it. i just buy and buy and use the money as life is too short. so i need to live life to the fullest and let the day past as we cant turn back the hands of time. better to have health insurance or other insurance instead than save money.

We do try and save money for a rainy day, however with my boyfriends hours being cut so much it is almost impossible as we tend to have to live paycheck to paycheck. I earn very little so what I earn pays some of the bills but isn't enough to make up where he isn't able to. We dread the winter as his ours are going to be cut even more and since we are living so tight right now I don't know how we will actually make it during the winter months this year.
