When you had to pick out glasses, was it hard making up your mind?

Been wearing glasses since I was 11 years old and the styles have changed alot but dont think they can change to much but they do have way to many to look at and really they are several just alike!.
If you think they look good on you dont worry about what others think!

I haven't had to pick out glasses yet but my b/f has. He has regretted his choice and will probably end up going and getting some different ones. I like them and they look great on him but he doesn't like how they fit him. He says he feels like he's looking over the top of them. He wants a little bigger lens.

I'm terrible at picking out frames, I usually ask the person waiting on me for their opinion. Once they're convinced I really do want to know what they think, they're very helpful!
I'm getting my next set from Zenni Optical for $8 or so. I don't need any right now but I can't see spending hundreds on a pair of glasses.

I have worn glasses since I was nine years old and that was 60 years ago. I still won't pick my own frames. Without the lenses in them they look totally different on me than when they have lenses and I can actually see, so I usually have the person waiting on me pick a general frame shape and then help me with my 2 or 3 choices in that shape. I don't care what other people think, I care what I think and it always takes me a while to decide I really do like a new frame no matter how much care went into picking them.

I am short sighted so it is contact lenses or glasses for me! I usually buy a pair every year as my health fund entitles me to free ones yearly and yes I take ages to choose the right frame! I used to take someone with me but it confused me even more so now I go on my own and I will try every single pair until I’m happy. It’s a long process but I have only ever bought a pair I was not that keen on once! By now I have enough experience choosing glasses to know what is more likely to suit me...

I haven't bought new classes for a while, but I still remember the situation when I was in the shop. It was really hard for me to choose the right glasses, because there were so many different ones.
I was 13 when I got my first glasses, and my father came with me to the shop, he joked about the situation when I couldn't make a decision, and he said that in his childhood there were only two differerent kinds of glasses to choose between. A lot has changed since than, now there are so many different kinds of glasses. I think it is good that there are so many options and that you can choose the glasses that are right you, but all those options made it hard for me to make up my mind
Last time I bought a new pair of glasses, the shop let me borrow 3 different frames, so that I could try them out at home in front of the mirror, and that was a big help. I managed to make up my mind in the end

Hello my friend, sometimes having too much choice can be as problematic as having too little choice, I remember when I had to pick out my glasses there were literally rows upon rows of glasses to choose from, I was spoilt for choice, and in the end you sort of get tired with trying endless amount of glasses on and then you can't make your mind up either because you have more than one that look good on you! I found it overwhelming in the end. But I settled on a pair which I was happy with and weren't so unappealing to others. I dread having to choose glasses again.

When picking out glasses. I look for ones that look good on my face. Certain glasses look better on say a round face compared to a square shape. I have a square shape face. So does my daughter. But my boys have long oval shaped faces. Thus different glasses look better on the boys compared to me or my daughter and vise versa. When Wearing glasses, I really could care less what others think of me when wearing them. Glasses are needed for medical reasons, if someone has a problem with someone else wearing glasses. They really need their head examined.

I have no trouble picking out frames that I like because I do not care what other people think only what I like. Actually I have a rather expensive pair of frames with I really love so the last time I needed new lenses I had them put into the old frames.
BTW So happy to see you back!

I don't care what other people think of my glasses, but I do care about liking them myself. If I'm not happy, I'll switch them. Most places give you some time to wear them and, if they don't meet your expectations, you can trade them in for something else.
I have to get my eyes checked soon and I'm dreading it. I hate having to go through those hundreds of frames to see which ones I like best. It inevitably turns out to be the most expensive, although that's not what I'm looking for. If you find frames that you love, then have to get new glasses, you can never find the same frames again. I had one pair that I loved a long time ago and since then have not been completely happy since then.
I'm not into "trendy" frames, either. Maybe that's why I have such a hard time finding frames that I like. In the past few years, I've liked the frameless glasses best. I've had full frames, half-frames and frameless. I think I'll go with the frameless this time but have the lenses tinted slightly.
Don't ever go for those Transitions lenses! Well, not unless you don't drive or ride in a car. When you're in a car, the sun is generally not on your face and the lenses don't turn dark. Driving a car is when I want my sunglasses the most! I got Transitions once and I'll never do it again. Last time, I bought two pairs of glasses, a regular pair and a pair of sunglasses. Even though it's more expensive, it's better than needing sunglasses when they won't work.
You have reminded me, though, that I have to make an appointment soon to have my eyes checked. The glasses I have now aren't working as well as they did when I got them. Darned eyes! They're almost as expensive as teeth!!!
