I have a lot of friends and family that live all of the the States and they constantly send requests for Facebook and Myspace. Now I've heard but Twitter being talked about.
Well, I don't have any of these. Am I the ONLY one out there that hasn't taken the plunge into social networking through these sites. I know you can make pages private for friends and family, but I'm really nervous about posting pictures of myself and my children online. To me, we have e-mail for that.
So I don't know. Sometimes I feel like I am the last person on earth that doesn't have a Mysapce or Facebook account. Am I? Do you?

You are not alone. I do not have a Facebook or a MySpace account at all. I just a few days ago opened a Twitter account, but I will not post any pictures there, especially any of my family. I am too leary of having our faces out there where everyone in the world can see them. Besides, the fact that there are people out there who actually steal someone's pictures from those sites makes me even more leary of posting them.

I hate to defend the social networking sites, because I am apart of Myspace and that is soooooooo enough for me, BUTTT I have to say it's a good way of letting everyone know how you're doing, what you're up to and seeing photos of your current events. THIS HELPS WITH HAVING TO ALWAYS GET PHONE CALLS AND TELLING EVERYONE THE STORY ALL OVER AGAIN. Not that it's a bad thing to get on the phone, but when you show your current events it filters out the amount of time for each person. OH MY GOODNESS THIS SOUNDS SO BAD LOLOL
I guess I like having everyone I know see what's been up with me, without missing a thing. It's actually a great way of keeping in contact with everyone, when you have many people in your life. Best of luck with your next step :)

I don't have these accounts either.Because I don't have time for playing games with pictures, messages and other stuff. My friends know my style and they never bother me with invitations.I prefer meeting them in real life, not online.Second thing, too much private information spread around the globe about you through these popular sites. When I call my relatives,I use skype program and the cam. When I have to write something,I use the email. And love to be old-fashioned.

You are not the only one, I’m sure. If you watched the ice age you would know there must be a similar life like you in the world.
I don’t have facebook or myspace. In fact I never have a look of these websites. I don’t know what they can do for my life. I already have enough communication tools to connect with my family and friends. By the way I joined twitter but I did not find any fun from the website. So now I totally did not log in my twitter.
I don’t know why these websites so popular? I wonder the popularity was just from their slogo, but not real truth. They over spread their websites and cheated us it’s modern and stylish way to do in life.

I guess I don't like the idea of putting my personal life out there. That doesn't make sense to me. Sharing picture I don't feel comfortable with doing on such a public site. Even if you can set your preferences to a private page. Just not my stlye I guess.

I was dragged screaming and kicking all the way onto a private family Facebook site. I have nieces & nephews scattered across the country at different colleges and universities, and this was the only way I could keep up with all of them on a fairly regular basis.
It helps me miss them so much less when I can read about what they are up to, and see pictures of new friends they are meeting, and so on. I don't understand the merits of MySpace or Twitter enough to comment on them.
For our huge extended family to keep in touch, Facebook has been great. I don't play the games or anything else they offer, I just check in on the kids a couple of times a week.
I guess whatever your comfortable with, or whatever works best for you is the way you should go. For our family, Facebook works really well

Kicking and screaming - LOL I have yet to make that plunge and I'm holding out as long as possible! I do understand what you're saying though. I guess my main issue is putting all your life out there on a website like that.

i have signed up in almost all networking site out there popular and not so popular ones that you have hardly heard at all. but i have not active in them all. i just signed up i hardly remember visiting most of them. i forgot the links of those site actually. i only remember facebook, twitter and some few more but i don't open it. i rarely do. like TAG, i used to be active for a few days then just get tired of it. i don't see any sense on being active on those kind of sites. it seems like they are just waste of time.

I have a facebook account and I really didn't think I would like it that much at first but now I love it. I can sign in and automatically be able to see what all my family and close friends are up to and it has made it a lot easier to keep up with people that live away. I check mine at least a few times each day to see whats been going on with everyone else and I couldn't imagine not having it anymore

I dont think so, though internet users are flooding, there are still a lot of people who never get acquainted of these social networks, they dont even know how to use a computer.

You are not alone! I'm also uncomfortable with social networking sites, and the pressure to sign on by friends. It is all pretty superficial to me...I find email is just fine for my needs.
That said, I respect those that enjoy social networking. Just not my cup of tea.
