As long as you eat the right food in the right quantity, stay active , it is not required to go to the gym. You need to know what your BMR ( Baic Metabolic rate ) is and depending upon your activity level, you should calculate the amount of calories your body requires in a given day and eat only that amount of calories to stay healthy. It is only when you are trying to loose weight when you should go to a gym for cardio and eat lesser calories. else if you are tryin to gain weight or muscles then you should eat more calories than normal.

I also have an elliptical trainer at home. I do early morning cardio daily and burn about a 1000 calories in an hour's time. This way I manage to keep my weight in control and avoid those extra calories that I eat to get stored as fat. And I am a complete foodaholic. I just love to eat food, and can't stop myself when I see something mouth watering. So if you want to eat anything and everything then you also need to cardio daily or atleast 4 times a week. Else start seeing flabs on your abdomen

I go to the gym, but unlike everyone else here that works on being lean and fit, I work on bulking up, and growing muscle. I am addicted to big muscles. I have always been a big guy, and I have played football for a while, so I have been pretty strong, but I never felt I was strong enough. I actually started hitting heavy weights as a way of relieving stress, and because I was badly injured in a car accident. I guess I was under a lot of stress for me to get bigger, and stronger, and hungrier because man, did I grow an appetite. Outside of the gym, I walk, and rode a bike, but because my legs have gotten so big and strong, I was breaking bikes. Because of the accident, I couldn't run as well due to a permanently damage knee, but I bulked my legs up so much that the muscles grew over the knee. Where I used to play football, I was the smaller guy, despite being big, they were bigger. Now, I'm the bigger guy, and people feared I would kill them if I hit them. But I seriously love hitting the big weights, because they used to be intimidating. I won't even discuss my appetite because it is mind boggling how much I can eat in a day to keep me going. That muscle needs a lot of fuel, I can say. I love having big muscles because I feel good, I know I am not normal because of my strength and appetite, and I am more confident. The only problem with a lot of these gyms is that you can reach your limit easily because you maxed out on the weights. For example, I used a leg press that maxed at 800 pounds, no good for me if I used my car in the driveway (3,000 pounds). This beast may have to find another spot, if I keep growing.

Nah. I wasn't aiming to be a bodybuilder, though I am bigger than some. I can't handle the roller coaster diet, plus I don't have that ripped muscle look. When I want to eat, I am going to eat. This is good for my job because I move heavy stuff all day, and the extra mass can handle the abuse. Unfortunately (or fortunately), because I am such a big guy, I am always asked to move the heavy stuff for other people or have a bottomless amount of energy. It's hard to hide big arms, shoulders, and chest. I don't care, I'm still growing. At this rate, I'm going to intimidate gorillas, lol.

I do not go to gym is is quite expensive for me to pay the membership fee. i could exercise on my own and be fit at the comfort of my room doing my routinary exercises. I am just so luck i have a petite body that is so slim and even i do not exercise i keep fit. what i want now is to add some meat on my body to look a little fatter..lol..Definitely, i love my body and would not trade for anyone else body..

Hi Amyson,
I did not check in gym as I do not have time after office and I am scared that it can only make my arm more stonger rather than slimmer. After graduation, I seldom do excerise, and peddling the bike as the exercise and I supposed it is enough for me. And I can save money by staying from the gym house. A lot of ways can keep fit beside the gym. Happy Mylotter.

Hi amyson!
I love fruits and vegetables, but I hate going to the gym. Really! I don't even like exercise that much, especially ones that are routinary in nature. My sister keeps telling me I should be exercising if I want to lose weight as it is one of my problems, but I'm having doubts about doing so :) ahahaha...

The picture can be a bit deceiving :) I have a problem with my arms, thighs, and my stomach. I inherited a trait from my father's side, wherein the women get fat really easily! Psssh. I know that it's from my dad's side since my mom's siblings are really thin. And to think that my dad's brothers are all thin too! Hahaha..

I work out in my home. I have a bench, weights and a plethora of exercise videos that I do. I also have Bas Rutten boxing cd's that I got. He just yells out numbers and you perform the combo's. I always change up my routine to keep things fresh so I'll never get bored.

But now as i have other thing s to look at i do exersixes only for fitness.
I want to be in good hsape and be fit. No more body building for me,lol.
Well whatever u r doing is enough for keeping in shape. I always say nothing is better than brisk walking or jogging. They do a lot of good to your health.

I think there is really no need to go to the gym every day to keep fit. Of course it would really help if you regularly go the gym but if budget constrains you then there are ways to exercise without even spending. Brisk walking in the morning for 30 to 1 hour every day is the best and the most economical exercise habit. And also it is worth remembering that even if one is exercising or going to the gym everyday if he will not also practice healthy eating and lifestyle he will be far from being fit. I mean what is the use of exerting effort in exercising if your diet is filled with cholesterol, preservatives, unhealthy additives, carbonated drinks and many more junks. Also what is the use of exercising if constantly spend time in drinking sessions or into smoking. A well balanced healthy living is what we need. Of course we will all die in the long run but would it not be nice to die healthy? How sad for those people who have to suffer the pain of chronic or terminal disease before dying isn't it?

I used to be this type of person before when I was having my job and having the time to do so. Because I was able to pay for the monthly membership payment and I had time to go to the gym regularly in order not to "waste" the money that I spent on it. I like their sauna room and steam room the best, enjoyed exercising and steam and sauna room after.

To amyson this is checkmail and often fo try out the Gym stuff in order to
maintain the balance of the body. But to remain fit i not only depend on
Gym but also on my regular routine. As its nearly not possible to do
exact amount of excersies daily so the balance is disturbed. But if you
do it inbetween break it may work fine for us.Mostly imp thing is to
watch our diet and weight.Mostly hitting an gym is for quick body
tonning or geting in shape.

Hi Amyson,
I been to gym twice during my college times. My friend's condo has gym facility and she invited me for an exercise.
Apart from that, I never been to other gym before.
Actually I have been telling myself to stay fit and do some exercise to lose some weighs, but till now I am yet to fulfill my wish.
I hope next year I can join an aerobic class after sending my boy for schooling. For the time being, I can't find any free time to go for an aerobic.
Disadvantages for going to gym, I can't think of any. But for sure, going to gym is good for our health,we can exercise, keep our body fit, have good figures and also meet more people there and make some new friends.

yes, healthy way of living is good, eating a balanced diet, sleep on time and not staying so late at night.gym is only good if you have no other things to do and you need to attend classes everyday somehow you can force yourself to attend because you pay and enroll in the gym.

I have never gone inside a gym and I don't want to. My friends keep on telling me to go to the gym with them. I am not fat nor I am thin. It's sometimes the "in" thing to do.
I stay fit by walking daily every afternoon around the park or around the ballfield. Sometimes I go to the boulevard. Then I walk to the market or to the downtown area for errands and only take a ride when going home because I might have to carry something heavy.
Then I do gardening and housechores. It's free.

I hate sports since I was a child, never been good on that subject and usually ruined my grades at school. Growing up, I am also not fond on working out or exercising, tried gym few times but I go through that with so much pain and agony (I know I'm exaggerating here LOL). Right now, I'm thinking to go back to gym. I never been overweight, but I notice my body is really not healthy and not that propertionally good. Also, in office, all I do is sitting in front of computer and not many other activities I can do to burn the calories from snacks and food. I'm thinking to go to the gym starting next month. I just hope myself is still get motivated next month to get up and apply for the membership. It certainly cost me money (around USD 30-40 for membership), but if it is for health I think it is really worth it

When I studied in the university, I usually went to gym twice or three times a week with my roommate. To me it's a good way to keep myself healthy, for it's not easy for me to keep exercising by myself. In my view, only those who are full of perseverance could do exercise regularly by themselves, maybe you are one of them. According to my gym experience, you need to learn the proper way from your coach, or you would be easily hurt.

it is a good habit for you keeping a healthy diet, as far as i know, many people like to eat cholesterol food, such as hamburg which is so easy to get fat if eating so much. i go to gym, but not for keeping fit, but to learn dancing. dancing is also a good way to keep fit.
