I am worried because i usually wash my face and hands after doing long hours facing the computer. I do always forget to wash my face first before working on my computer at night. It is a must to wash face before going to bed that is why i always will but forgetting that i have been facing the computer.

Hi anne, Before I use to do that but my dad always tells me not to wash my face after every long hours of facing the computer. Many people say that because it may affect your vision or may have impact on the skin, something like that. Well, I practice to wash my face first before doing something that requires long hours of work like with the computer. Then after facing the pc I use some facial cleansers to clean my face instead of using water and have my face washed. Happy mylotting.

that's a great idea, instead of washing my face with water, i just clean it with facial cleansers. It's not really a right thing to do getting your hands or eyes wet after long hours of work. That is the reason why people so young at age have wearing eyeglasses.

I really don't know why we should wash our hands & face after staying a longer period online! I never used to do the same & go to sleep immediately after I shutdown my PC. I wonder how long I'll live a healthy life. Happy Lotting

it's just okay taz, no need to worry when you are not washing your hands and face after staying longer in your computer, in fact, it's just good of not getting your hands and face wet after working....because it needs rest first.

I always having a wash before going to bed all the time. But not straight away after spending long hours in front of pc. Your eyes and hands were tired and need rest, so i always have an hour of rest before washing. Happy myloting.

Hi, xannebull! OMG! After reading the previous responses from other users, I think now I know why my hands are sometimes felt so dry when I wash them. I usually take a shower after long hours in front of the computer. I always notice that both of my palms are so rough after just a few minutes touching the water. So, basically I will wash my hands and face after the facing the computer for quite an amount of time! I never knew that. I hope somebody will come up with scientific explanations on this, but anyway, thanks for starting this discussion. At least I can always remember to be extra cautious of my well being.

it is also not good in our eyes, as they say, we must rest our eyes first before getting it wet to make it healthy and so we can avoid wearing eyeglasses someday. our hands will also gets shaky if we wet it with water after long hours of using it.

Hi xannebull... I never really thought about it before. I can see where that might be a issue with facial cleaning. As I was reading your discussion I had my hand up to my face. Then back to the keyboard. The keys on the keyboard could very well pick up dust particals. I will have to start washing my face after a long use on the computer. Thanks for pointing out some good points..Continue to smile..

but it's better not to wash our face with water because our hands will get wet and our eyes too, they say that it's not good getting your hands and eyes wet after doing long hours of work in front of your computer.

I always wash my face after working on my computer for the radiation from computer screen is harmful to my skin. If possible, we'd better not sit in front of the computer for a long time. In addition to the radiation, sitting motionless too long does harm to our eyesight, neck and spine.

thanks for the information simon, that would really help... we must stand stretched our body sometimes when we have our computer works, or else our body will get hard to move on.

..uhmmmm.i know its late to reply to this but i can't help it..there is really no scientific basis for this..according to doctors, there really is no problem if you wash your face after prolonged use of computer..i think most Filipinos believe in "pasma" but the truth is there is really no scientic basis for this..just some old wive's teale that most of us believe in.

Hi there, I also wash my hands and face after prolonged use of the computer more often before I sleep. The oldies always say that we should not wash our hands after doing heavy work or tending a hot thing like cooking or else we get our hands in bad shape. And also we should not wash our face or else our eyes will be damaged. I don't know but I end up washing after using and not the other way around. And besides I need to ash hands because the computer keyboard has more germs in it.

That is what my discussion means, thanks for your great response. Oldies are right, that is the reason why some people's hands are shaky or their eyes will not be working well.

I think its not realy needy to wash face during night time.Because then you dont fell sleepy after you wash face.In day time its ok when you wash your face and feel freshen up to work again.

that worries me too my friend. specially if i am using the computer for a couple of hours already. i think that is not advisable right? so sometimes i just use some facial things for my face to let my face clean before going to sleep. i even always forgotten that i am having such hard work at the office then i forgot that i then suddenly wash my hands... argh! and its quite frustrating. jhelai

I think you are paranoid about your hygiene needs vs. your computer work time. Keeping your skin clean and practicing good hygiene has nothing to do with your time in front your computer. Maybe you have skin problems and its personal need to do that often to prevent oil build up, but if you wash too often your skin can also get extra dry and cause more troubles.

it's not bad. what's bad for the eyes is the long exposure to the computer and not because you wash it after that. there is no scientific basis for this. go search on forums with real doctors.
