Where do the kittens come from that show up on my doorstep?

I know that this may be a strange question but I have this problem all the time. I walked outside yesterday and there was this little gray and black kitten meowing at me. I looked around not sure if someone might be there. Of course not..I have another kitten dropped off at my door again.. I don't have any animals and I don't have a sign hanging that says "Drop your cat off to me". So why do they always end up here..LOL So does anyone else have this problem with cats or kittens that just show up un-invited?

Hello my friend
AWWWW, maybe they sense something good in your home and they want you to take care of them, I know someone here that says she has this problem as well, I live in a building so we don't have this, there was this big cat in the hallway once I refused to go out until he was gone lol, although I have a wonderful kitty, strange kittys/cats scare me,what do you do when this happens?
Thank you.
Gray/black sounds really cute.

She is cute. I feed her something this morning. I don't have no catfood or liter or I would bring it in here. I know hubby won't like that but maybe if I give him those puppy dog eyes he will let it stay until I have it a home..Ill let you know what happens here..

Hello my friend
Oh that would be great, I am not a cat/dog person at all, I did this for my daughter and grandson, I don't see how I ever got buy without my kitty, he is the best, they make you feel so loved, its really amazing, he is getting so big he is up under my feet right now, I have to sit in a awkward position lol,I wish your hubby will let you keep him, he will be glad he did someone told us taking care of kittens are much cheaper then caring for a dog, his food is really cheap, we had him fixed for free, can you take a picture of him lol I know that may be too much to ask, gray/black sounds so cute.
Keep my posted my friend.

Hey kitty..I will try to take a pic of her. She was on the porch a few minutes ago. It is raining right now and not sure if she is still out there. If she is I will take one and send it to you.

I almost had a little doggy walk into my apartment yesterday when I came home. I don't know were he came from but when I opened my door he tried to come in.
Poor guy I had to leave him outside but he was gone later on.
We have lots of cats in our neighborhood but none ever came to my door.
Maybe your place smells like milkor they know that you're a nice person and they want to visit

Hi missybear..Good to hear from you again.. Im not sure why they come here. Maybe they sense my good heart..It is funny that she doesn't try to go next door to my inlaws or even the other house. She is staying on my porch or under the steps when it is raining. Strange....

That would be great. The only problem I have is a nasty neighbour who hates cats and my house isn't rally suitable for lots of cats inside. Plus, I have a cat already and not sure how he'd go with another one, plus, I have to have someone come in daily if I need to go away.

Lol, they can sense the presence of a warm-hearted person from miles away. I was just on a trip to where I used to live and right away I detected a new cat on what had been our block. It was acting a bit like it might want to come home with me. so later I asked some of my former neighbors if it was bothering their cats and they said they didn't know who it belonged to but that it wasn't friendly and kept its distance from everybody. That was a surprise as it seemed friendly enough to me. It was a very pretty sort of brick brown cat, with a few patches of orange on its sides and back but no white and no markings on its face or feet.
Well, I am too independent to be owned by a cat, but there was an attraction.

A mother cat probably had her litter somewhere near your place, and perhaps something has happened to her, is why they're meowing on your doorstep because they're hungrey. Sometimes mother cats will abandon their litters, too. We had that happen to us once, when I was a kid. My dad got out an eyedropper and fed the kittens some milk, lol.

Ahhh that was good and nice on your dad's part. Im not sure about the kitty at all. I haven't seen any adult cats lately. I just figure someone dropped her off in the area and she found her way here. I will take care of her until I can ahold of someone to come and get her..Thanks for sharing your story with me. Have a nice day..

Shame on them cats. They are naughty tearing up the garden.. I have heard that if you put coffee grounds around your garden that cats wont go near it. Now that is what I heard. Dont know it it works or not but maybe you could try..

The kitten dropping so far has stopped in my garage for quite some time now because neighbors can see that I have three grown cats already. The original cat, Spot adopted us rather than us adopting her when her mother decided to leave her in our garage. She was just a kitten at that time and the mama cat would drop by every now and then. But eventually she stayed away and Spot stayed. I hate it when irresponsible owners think that disposing kittens is a solution to their problem of not having their cat neutered in the first place. I hope that you find a home for kitty.

Oh me too...I think he will take her. He lives on a big farm and has several cats around the barn now. He loves the cats and says that he doesn't have any mice problems at all. Now if he will only call me back then I will know what to do today..Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.

I've had that problem for years! Dogs, cats....in abundance!
I think when they end up on the doorstep, they are left with a little food.
My problem is finding them homes.
The cats and kittens I usually just keep feeding and leave them outside, I live near a farm and it keeps the mice/rats problems at bay.
I try to find the dogs a home because feeding them can get pretty expensive.

We had a cat lady in our town up until about 3 years or so ago. She had to move into town in a more pleasant area for her age. She wasn't able to take any of the cats with her. They was given away thoughout that week. I would like to say that I have found my little lost kitten a home. She is living fine in the country now..Thanks for sharing and you have a nice evening...

Hello there, well it happens many time.May be those baby kittens found you to be more lovable than others:p
well see it can be one thing that the mother cat must have given birth to these kittens near by to your house and then it is very obvious to find them near your doorstep.
Well by the time you can do some good deed try keeping a small bowl with milk a bit far away from your doorstep for those kittens and see that they dont come to know its you.Or else they will be on your bed the next time:P

Hi Archie..Yeah she made into our home last night. It was raining outside and I didn't want her to all wet. My hubby got tickled at me. Today she should be able to go to a new home where she can live on a farm. I really believe that someone dropped her off on the street and she just made her way to my doorstep..

It happen to me a lot of time. I think people know how I love cat so they tend to leave the poor cats on my doorstep. I really despise those irresponsible owners. The problem is I don't mind if it's a few cat or kitten but not too many of them. I can't afford the cat food. I do feel sorry for them but how am I going to feed too many cats. In the end, I have to look for someone to take them in.

It has never happen to me well they do not come to my door steps but they do like to be under the house and there is a space between the walls that is between the ceiling and the roof and they like to sleep there. There is a noise that they make that sounds like a crying baby that really scares me. I do like cats but not for pets is just that the noise they make is really scary and also I have always had dogs for pets I have had a cat but it did not last long since it went away with another cat and never came back. But around hear there are a few houses were they have more than five cats and there is one lady that loves cats and she has more than 10 cats that is without counting the ones that live outside her house.

WOW..desteny..She has 10 cats? I think that maybe sometimes people can go overboard with their animals. I guess that isn't my call to make. If you can take care of them and feed them I guess it is okay. I love animals but this little girl just can't stay here. Mother-in-law doesn't like cats and we live on her property right now. Thansk for sharing and have a nice day..

That has happened to me a lot lately and just recently actually. I do have a cat already and she hangs out a lot by the bedroom window and I guess the cats and kittens from outside see her and figured that we are cat people and that we'd be fine taking another in lol. Well, there was a little kitten that we think may have been abandoned and happened to find herself at our doorstep and actually this was partly my husbands fault, seeing that I love cats and wouldn't have bothered taking another in. For the fact that the cat we had before we thought she may be happy to have a friend. He comes inside and tells me there is an adorable cat outside that was real young. So I went out and yep she's adorable. Lol. So I took her in and I felt sorry for her because it was hot outside. Well, any way there could be numerous of reasons why the kitten showed up. It could have gotten lost, or the mother abandoned it. There must have been a mother nearby that had a litter of kittens close by and started dropping them off lol. A month or so after we took in this kitten we have now another kitten popped up and tried to work its way into our home. Had to turn it away though. We have no more room with 2 cats and we can only afford to feed 2 at the moment. My other cat we adopted from the shelter. But she was too abandoned in the street, the shelter got to her though before she got older she was like 7 days old. And they believed that the mother must have abandoned her as well. Or maybe someone could have dropped her off in the street too, because nobody wanted her any more. Maybe someone could have done that too. There cat may have had kittens and they weren't prepared to care for them and just dumped them in the street. I hope that didn't happen, they could have just given them away. Oh well.

Hi there rosepedal,
How are you doing tonight? It has been quite awhile since we have chatted but have seen some of your other posts and such.
Couldn't help but notice this topic of yours, since I am such an animal lover, tho' just like you... I "have" no animals of my own so to speak, but have been feeding the poor strays in my neighborhood for about four years. So perhaps in some sort of a way I must have a sign of sorts which reads "Drop your cat off to me". *lol*... but really not.
It really IS sad for all of those poor unfortunate little critters and creatures who become lost and let go in this big old world of ours! You were most considerate to feed the kitten/small cat, especially since you can't give it a real/forever home... but hopefully your friend can. And like tatty said, they all so deserve a fair chance and a safe place to live! Sorry, but that wasn't "exactly what" she wrote... but am sure you get my drift. *smile*...
By the way, someone who is a big cat lover and has a few as pets, once told me... You don't find a cat, THEY find you! *lol*...
Take care,

Hi firefox...How are you doing? Im doing okay and glad to hear from you again. I hope that you are doing well. Just remember on those days that seem rough Just Smile..LOL..I hope that he will get ahold of me today to take this girl. She would be much happier on that farm. I will have to agree with you that they find you. There are other houses on my street and she came to mine. I just can't take her right now at all. You have a great day and remember to keep smiling...
