Hello my fellow myloters,
I just bought new laptop and i want to protect it really well. I have a laptop before and it didn't even last for two years because it got attach by a virus and when I took it to greenhills in Philippines to get it fix it seems like the people who fix it replace the hard drives and it totally got weaken against viruses.
Now with my new laptop I have about 3 anti virus, I got Avast, Norton and Regcure to keep it clean so far and I got 3 antispyware as well. So far its been doing great though I have few blue screen error last couple of weeks but got it fix last night by myself.
I also try to scan my computer every time I finishes using the net and even in the morning before I start surfing on the net.
How about you how many anti virus you have on your computer and do you think you are protected enough? Do you get a lot of tracking cookie and viruses? I get a lot of tracking cookie but not viruses.
Thanks myloters and happy Myloting

Hey,
Well I only have 1 anti virus on my computer, because I have heard that it isn't good to have more than one anti virus on your computer because somehow it might make your computer crash. I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 on my computer. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

I am aware of one thing: Anti-viruses can minimize the risk of virus attack, but they can never guarantee 100% safety of the machine. I don't actually use anti-virus softwares, the chief reason being they kill the speed of the system. Instead what I do it, keep 3-4 different anti-virus softwares, install them one by one after every few days (10-15 days) and check system for viruses, and then uninstall them.
After around 3-4 moths, I format my computer and get rid of all the viruses.

You should only need one anti-virus software. Also does your anti-virus software detect spyware and malware? You do need to have a firewall installed that monitors inbound and outbound traffic. Another utility that cleans up cookied, temp files, registry, and some spyware is Glary Utilities which is free for home use.

It is not recommended to have more than one antivirus software installed on a computer. The best thing is to install a good anti virus, a good anti spyware and a good firewall application.
I recommend Comdo Internet Security for antivurs and firewall, spyware terminator for antispyware. Spyware Terminator also turns up as heuristic scanner and system monitor which monitors every change in your system.

using more than 1 antivirus software is not recommended as those antivirus might cause conflicts especially when there is any virus and both the antivirus detect it at the same time and might cause your system to hang and some times one antivirus might report ather antivirus as harmful and can cause you system to hang.. in case you use more than 1 antivirus , only enable realtime protection in one antivirus and disable in rest ,this should prevent from conflicts..

Installation of more than one anti-virus software is not at all recommended. It would just mess up with your PC and bunch of utilities installed in it. If it didn't happen today, then it would happen tomorrow.
A combination of more than one anti-virus program is just like putting virus in your own PC. Each programme have their own unique way of access to system files and registry and this causes the installed softwares to mutually crash.
I did this mistake when I was a beginner and now I am using Linux and I love it. Because that defines real 'secure computing environment'.

I dont think only keeping more anti virus will protect your computer rather it will make your computer even slower cause it consumes more physical memory...i have kept only one latest version of anti virus that is Nod32 and it is very effective too..It scans my computer automatically and cleans the viruses and other dangerous viruses..I think it will be enough to keep only one best anti virus..

Our fellow myLotters are right about multiple antivirus software slowing down your system, causing conflicts between different software and the like, but it's not always the case. If you have enough money, it would be wise to invest in a single, really good antivirus. Read reviews on the net, these will help you a lot with your choice. But if you don't have any finances, you could settle for the weaker and free ones but it would be recommended to have at least two of these. I have two installed on our PC and so far have not encountered any problems and I've been using this combination for more than five years now. I've inserted one or two antispyware before but since the updates of these two antivirus are ample enough, I've never encountered any problems with infection at all and took the other spyware off the list.
I also tried Avast and Norton but I encountered a conflict between the two. I'm currently using Norton and AVG and I regularly update the software. Even with those other units I've serviced haven't encountered any problems at all, except of course with them messing things up with different applications. But as far as infection and invasion, there were no problems. I only get a little issue with the new AVG's resident shield which really eats up a lot of processor operation and slows down applications. I guess I have to update my combination. You could try experimenting with a number of combination of antivirus and you'll come up with the best ones which keep your unit clean and operating optimally. Don't forget to check the net for updated antivirus software you could get every now and then for the best protection.
I heard Kaspersky is the best so far. Or maybe I'm outdated. I really have to do my research soon.

The programs that I use are 'avira anti-virus' (which is free), malwarebytes, ccleaner, and super-antispyware. This powerful combination has gotten me out of a lot of tough binds when it comes to horribly crippling malware/trojan situations. I would recommend all of these applications, as they are all free!

Glad to see that the responses here have knowledge about having too many antivirus programs. They will conflict with one another at some point and I have seen it when people bring me their computers because it crashed. I never use Norton which causes many problems with applications so often. The free ones are just as good as the paid for ones. I have also noticed that many computer shops will try to sell you an antivirus program and unsuspecting customers fall into that trap. With computers more than one can be bad.

well eve . . . . hmm first of all having 3 antivirus in your computer would not make it any more safer, don't me wrong.. it is true, like you have seen many people answer here... having only 1 is actually advisable.. they can have conflicts in between them if you have more than one . . so it is better you keep only 1 good antivirus program in your computer, that antivirus you better make sure you can keep updating over time, that last attack you had was probably because you didn't update it, so take care.. keep a good anti virus and update it regularly and nothing to worry about... have a nice day eve!
