i can sleep without having an airconditioner at home because i was used to it already. we don't have an airconditioner in our room when i was still young. now that i have two children, we bought aircon for them. it's comfortable sleeping with a cool room and i'm worried because my children can't sleep without turning it on, it seems that the sound of the aircon is a lullaby to them.

I can't sleep without an air conditioner on. I'm the type of person who needs a cold room to be comfortable enough to sleep. Even though I have an air conditioner, I also have a fan in my room because I need the extra breeze. My daughter is the same way too. We can't sleep if its hot.

you're right. but i just turn it off after three to four hours when the room is already cold, then turn on the fan.. because if we turn it on until morning, then we have to pay big amount of electricity bill.

Yes, I understand what you mean. Electric companies are charging a lot of money lately. I have a friend who unplugs everything in her house if she isn't using it, because even if something like a tv isn't turned on, it's still using power. Everything that is pluged in uses power even if its not being used.

I absolutely can't sleep when it's hot, so I have to have the AC on, a window open, or something to keep me cool. Like, I want it pretty much frigid in my bedroom when I'm trying to sleep. Luckily, my boyfriend feels the same way I do or we'd probably be looking at some issues!

Hi, xannebull
I used to be happy with my electric fan but lately the heat is just unbearable. There are just nights that I could not sleep without turning on the airconditioner. Before turning it on though, my husband and I open our windows to see if it is a cool or warm night. The airconditioner increases our electricity consumption and we have to make sure that it is really necessary to turn it on.
Have a nice day!

Hi Xannebull,
I can't sleep without airconditioner unless it is raining season,it rains for whole day.I still need to open the window for fresh air to come in to my bedroom if I don't On the air-con.
Since I was small, I have get used to an air-con room, no air-con I can't sleep the whole night. Lasttime my hometown used to have a blackouts frequently,So everytime when there is a blackouts at night, I have to sleep on the floor.
Nowadays, I will always on my room air-con around 10pm, it makes my bedroom feel cold when I go in. My boy also can't sleep without air-con.
Just make sure you cover yourself with a blanket at night to keep your body warm when you on air-con at night.

I used to bear with the heat at night unless it was just too hot-on occasion I would turn it on if absolutely necessary. Anymore, I leave it on, but turn it up to about 78 degrees Fehrenheit, to save on the electricity, but to maintain the coolness. I live in California, and we often see daytime highs well over 100, and I live on the second floor of an apartment building. I need AC!!

No, I need my air conditioner on because I need the coolness to help me get to sleep. If I don't, I sweat, toss and turn at night and it's going to be a pain to even sleep. The cold air helps me sleep better along with my fans (electric/battery-powered).
I've been using air conditioners along with fans to have a good night's sleep for years. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon.

xannebull,
Nowadays, I just feel that our house are much better furnished and equipped. Air condition is only necessary when the humidity is way beyond our tolerance, other than that we can always have the cool breeze from that overhead electric fan.

In summer, with the high temperature,I cann't shleep without the aircondition. All of this attribute to the greenhouse sitution. In my memory,as I were a child,I can sleep well without aircondition which is out of my imagation.
Nowadays,Since the temperture drop down and we are stepping into the fall season, the hot cann't be a problem to disturb my sleeping in the night.
I believe in the future the humanbeing cannot live without the aircondition, due to the pollotion is becoming more serious throughout the globe.

it depends on the weather. i have to turn on the airconditioner before sleeping in summer and winter, as its too hot or cold.

I can't sleep without the air conditioner on if it is hot. In fact I have to have the air conditioner and a fan on. There is no way for me to sleep if I am too hot.
My adult daughter and her two sons sleep in one room and they have to use a fan year round, even when it is cold. They use it because of the sound it makes, it blocks out other irritating sounds. The sound of the fan is sort of like the "lullaby" you mention your children get from your air conditioner. I believe the sound of the fan is called "white noise" and it really helps them to sleep. When our electricity goes out, they wake up right away and have a hard time sleeping without it.

i too can sleep without any airconditioner. but i use an electric fan though. sometimes even it is not hot, i still turn on this electric fan cause it just was a habit already. even if i don't have the fan blow on my side where i can feel the wind. i just still have on. it still cool the surrounding or room even it is not directly hitting me. cause if i directly hit me i feel so cold.

I dont have to have an air conditioner, per say. I do, however, have to be in a cool room. If its too hot, I cant sleep. The noise sometimes bothers me, so I prefer to have a fan. My family laughs at me because to sleep I have to have three things. 1. A cold room. 2. A blanket. I have to be covered up. 3. A flat pillow. The flatter the better. I put my hands under my pillow to sleep and if the pillow is flat I wont get a crick in my neck. :D

hehe i think the aircon is nice to hear but you can only use that for good cool air that releases, one of the best thing to do is to give them some story telling.when they grow they do not rely on aircon.what if they go to the vacation but there is no aircon.

I do need an air conditioner while sleeping at night. The area I live in is moderate to hot. But I do not know why but for some reason the temperature inside my house is hotter than outside. We do have the Airconditioner switched on almost whole day. And yes Xannebull I agree with you it surely is comfortable sleeping in a cold room as you get a very sound sleep otherwise if no AC is there then it's just tossing and turning whole night.
