Do you Channel Surf or Watch the Way Too Many Commercials??

It seems the more we are paying for cable the more commercials we get to view. I am not one to sit through all the commercials so I usually channel surf or watch up to three different programs and switch back and forth. So do you watch all those ads over and over or do you jump around with different channels to avoid them. If I were energetic I could actually clean house during commercials and can be sure my house would be spotless by the time I was done watching TV..but that has not been a problem. Not that energetic.

Hi, ribbon I jump around different channels with or without commercials My husband once complained that he got dizzy watching TV while I held the remote. I do not know, I just have this bad (I guess!) habit of switching channels even if I already know what's happening on each channel. Also, I do not like the feeling of watching TV without the remote in my hand. Take care!

Same here, the remote control has just got to be in my hand. I too have that habit of switching channels while shows are on when I know what is going to happen. Too funny. And when I cannot find my remote I feel lost and cannot relax until it is located. Sounds like I need to get a life..haha

I hate tv commerials, specially i it's repetitive. It annoys me. Sometimes, the commercials takes longer than the tv programs. So during commercial break, i change channels most of the time. Or do something like get something to eat, do the dishes. Happy myLoting.

You sound about the same as me...if I am not channel surfing I will jump up and grab a bite to eat, do some dishes. You can actually get a lot done because there are so many done.

I hate commercials, probably the reason why I watch shows on my computer where CF could no longer intervene.

I cant stand commercials, but I also cant stand channel surfing. So, I dont watch TV much. But when I do I usually mute the commercials so that I dont have to worry about them...just pay enough attention so that I know when my show is back on. With radio stations, however, I will flip flip flip when a commercial comes on. I dont like to miss part of my show, but missing part of a song I like doesnt bother me. lol

Hi ribbon, Wow, that's what you call multi-tasking!.. I do channel surfing when I watch TV. I don't spend the time watching one channel straight, I get bored that way. I switch channels during commercials, this way I get to catch the shows in two or three channels all at the same time.

Hi Ribbon, I can't stand adverts so I tend to try and tape my TV and watch it the day after so I can skip through the adverts lol. If there is something I can't tape because it clashes with another show then I tend to channel surf, though I run into a problem if I find a better program as it means I have to chose between things! I have never house cleaned wile watching TV though, it would drive me nuts doing 4 minutes of vaccuming then running back into the living room. I did consider it, but decided that stopping mid-staircase to resume TV watching would just drive me nuts, and so I passed on the idea lol! All the best, Dranz

Hey, Well I don't really tend to channel surf, my dad is the one who actually does that the most, but the bad thing about him doing it is that the show always starts on the channel we were on before, and we always miss it when it starts because he is still channel surfing. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

I've been watching a whole lot less television as of late. Because of that, the risk of being bombarded with a metric ton of commercials that don't interest me at all has lessened. When I have the television on nowadays, I tend to know exactly what I want to see, and where to find in on my DirecTV channel list.

This is what I need to do. I honesty spend or waste too much time on tv. I do avoid news and media shows though so I don't get overloaded with all the negative info they constantly want to share.

everytime i watch my favorite show on tv and it's time for a commercial break, i channel surf. but sometimes if i am too lazy to reach for the remote control, i watch the long series of commercials.

I can't stand commercials so I channel surf like you, or nip onto my computer and have a quick look through emails etc. There is the occasional advert that catches my eye because it might be funny or something, but most aren't. I turn the sound down on the tv as well!

Lately, I haven't been seeing much tv, as I don't have cable anymore (too much money, for mostly channels I don't care to watch). So now, if there is a show I want to watch, I either rent the dvd set, or watch the streaming episodes of it on the channels website. Even when there are commercials there, I tend to walk away and let them play. I've always avoided commercials simply because it's usually the same ones playing constantly.

It it is just me watching TV by myself, I will a lot of times watch the commercials. My husband however, is addicted to the remote and can't keep his hands off it so he channel surfs constantly when he is watching TV, nobody else is even allowed to touch the remote when he is watching TV. We also DVR a lot of stuff these days, and this allows us to just fast forward through the commercials when we are watching shows now.

I've noticed the commercials get more often and they last longer. Pretty soon we won't be watching television shows, we will just be watching two minute skits with commercials the rest of the time. This is just sad. Do we really need that many commercials. Do any of these commercials make you want to buy something? Seriously, they just annoy me.

You sound just like me! I do not watch a lot of TV, but when I do I cannot stand to watch commercials. I do flick around and it drives my wife mad as I occasionally miss some of the program when it restarts after the break! I think that I do this as I always like to be maximising my time. I also like to make the most of the break sometimes to tidy the house or get food or drink.

I don't tend to sit in front of the TV unless there is something specific I wish to watch. So, I typically record my fave shows and then fast forward through all the commercials. No only am I watching just the show, but it takes less time to watch it!

If I am busy with something else and just have the TV so I'd have some background noise, I can go just leave it at a certain channel. But if I am really watching the TV, I sure can't stand going trough all te commercials. I usually surf channels during commercial breaks because I feel like I am wasting the money I am alloting for cable because I am not using the TV wisely lol.
