I am so glad that it is going to be here soon. I was wondering if anyone has anything bad to say about Windows 7???
I ask because I have not heard of anything and that is almost scary.
Please be as detailed in problems with Windows 7 as you can.
Thanks,
Bryan

I've tried the beta before I reformatted my PC.
I don't it's fair to say that Windows 7 is simply a more polished version of Vista - even with the best of intentions. I would say that Windows 7 is closer to an evolution of Vista's platform rather than just a polish of it. There are a lot of new features in 7 that change the way that Windows works even more than Vista did some of them small, like desktop slideshows and some of them gigantic, like the new taskbar and Libraries.
The new taskbar is easily one of the most fundamental changes that Microsoft has made to the way the overall user interface in Windows works in a very long time and while it's difficult to explain it because of how large a change it is, it's something that honestly feels very natural from the moment you start using it. Microsoft deserves a lot of credit for accomplishing this - something they probably won't get too much of what with the firestorm (I wanted to use another word here, but alas it's not really appropriate language for this venue )that Windows 7 is ultimately bound to kick up.

Windows 7 shows superior performance over Vista but not over XP. In my opinion, Windows XP is the best operating system ever made by Microsoft. I admit that. But I am not talking about the best operating system ever. Because, I love Linux than any other system in the planet.
Windows 7 shows compatibility problems when it comes to sophisticated applications and it often crawls in some situations. But not as crappy as Vista. The troubleshoot compatibility mode is the main problem that I see in windows 7. It is not absolutely doing what it promises.

ya that's a good discussion you started.. well with so many windows haters , i haven't heard bad stuffs about windows 7. well after all they have fixed in windows 7 all the mistakes they made in vista.. so windows 7 is almost perfect for now.. and one thing i liked about 7 was the auto-run based virus which used to attack xp wont work as i have personally tested it but there might be new virus that might..

I share you views on Windows 7. It is very very true about the part with Vista. I did not know about the part about the virus though.
Thanks for you comment,
Bryan

Hey,
I don't think that Windows 7 is actually that bad, I mean I haven't actually used it that much but from what I have seen and heard, it is quite a good operating system. Finally Microsoft has renewed itself from the terrible Vista. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!

Windows 7 is a lot better than vista. Actually waht i like the most about windows 7 taht how does it organizes the things. It s much better than windows vista. Its Taskbar and start menu rocks. When i used windows 7 beta for the first time, i felt it for the first time in 3 years since the longhorn that windows can give a tough fight to osx leopard. Its a lot better with devices, RAM usage and games. Also, i have noted that it runs the browsers run faster in windows 7 than windows vista.

I haven't tried it but there are lots of reviews about it if you do a search. From what I read over the past few months it seems that Windows 7 will make people happy. It doesn't put a big strain on a computer's resources and many report that they have fewer crashes. There will be issues with older computers but you can download a compatibility program from Microsoft that will test to see if you can upgrade and will make suggestions about what changes you can make if you can at all. I'm never in favor of trying to upgrade older computers to use newer OS's just to watch them struggle, for experienced people they may try it and get it to work but I see little point in it. It's better to sell an old computer and use the money to buy a new one that is made to handle the OS you want.

This is very true. Not that I am saying to just throw away your old computer, but trying to make it work with something that it can not...well is just a waste of your time. Esp. if you have to wait for it to process things at a way slower pace then things are supposed to run.

I already tried Windows 7 and I think this OS is better than VISTA, it is not a memory hog and running this OS in my old pentium 4 PC,the only problem that I encounter is the driver problem for my PC but since it is in beta version I'm sure it will be solve in the near future.

Windows 7 is a great development over Vista. The user interface is more intuitive and detailed and it makes user feel right at home with it's new shortcuts and ways of interaction. fifteen days of using beta version and I became an admirer of it. The beta itself was rock stable. And now I installed Release Candidate 1(RC1). Windows 7 has never been a resource hog as Vista happens to be. Games go great with new directx 11. Audio and video goes even to a higher level with the all new mighty Windows Media Player 12. I would not want to come back to XP or Vista.
The other important thing I noticed is I get a 3 hour battery backup on my laptop if I use 7, 2.5 hr if I use Vista and 1.5 to 2 hr if I use XP. Power management is more efficient it seems.
But there is a bug I noticed. I activated audio commands. I mean, the system responds to voice commands over microphone. For opening a program, copy, paste or removing a file or so on, it receives voice commands from the user. I activated this and till rebooting, it went on fine. I was really surprised by the accuracy with which it detected my voice. But after reboot, it screwed up audio. The audio did not work in any audio player and many other programs could not detect audio or reported audio device is not available at the moment. I removed it then due to some other reason and again installed Windows XP.
