Question for Mothers

So in about 4 days I go to the hospital to have labor induced and my baby girl will be here. I have to be induced due to the pregnancy being high risk. Anyway, I am 29 and this is my first child. My husband and I have been married for over 7 years and have just now been blessed with our little miracle. What I'm wondering is how all of you existing mothers felt physically and emotionally in the days leading up to the birth and what you felt when you laid eyes on your little one for the very first time :)

First of all Congrats on the baby girl! I'm 28 and I've been blessed with 3 children, me and my husband started early.lol Our first is a little boy, well he's 7 now, but i still remember the day we went into the hospital to have him. Physically, i was ready, swollen feet, back aches, getting up 100 times a nite to the bathroom it was just time. But emotionally i remember the days leading up to his delivery, everything was running through my head, who is he gonna look like, what color is his hair, and just so nervous about being a mom. I was only 21, I had him 5 days after my 21st b-day. but when he was born all that seemed to just go away it didn't matter who he looked like or if his hair was purple. He was our baby and we just knew everything would be ok. For me it was like the motherly instinct just kicked in the minute i saw him. And now 7yrs later i look at him and remember when he was just a small baby. And think of how fast the years have gone by and that it seemed like just yesterday we were going to the hospital to have him. So my advice to you is always remember "that day" in the delivery room when you have her. But cherish the early days when your baby girl is growing and learning to look up at you and smile for the very first time or crawl for the first time. For me as a mom thats the most awesome feeling in the world.

Oh wow...thank you for that :) Yeah, I'm going through the whole thing with wondering who she is going to look like, etc. I feel her move, but I just can't wait to actually touch her. I know they grow up so fast. I've watched my friends' kids grow up, especially my best friend's daughter because I've been there since she was a baby. I remember when she couldn't say a word or fend for herself in any way. Now she's 6 1/2 and trash talks me on games of memory. lol. Yes, she either beats me or almost beats me. I just can't wait to feel that feeling when I see her :) I just have a few more days :)

I'm 33 years old and I was a proud mother of a beautiful girl when I was 21. First night I spent home with I my baby my husband was sleeping ( yes, sleeping...), and I looked at her, she seemed to be so fragile that I started thinking how am I going to take care of this baby, so I cried the whole night. Now I realize that it was the effect of being exhausted and all that fears disappeared day after day. Prepare yourself to spend some nights in blank the first months, but I assure you that 12 years latter I think I did a pretty good job. When I look at her I'm sure that every single day was worth.

Thank you for that :) Yeah, my best friend told me once that she got her baby girl home and thought almost the same thing as you, but I watch her and see the wonderful job she is doing with her daughter :)

Congratulations gingisnapz, for the impending arrival of your baby girl. What a beautiful and life altering moment in will be for you. I remember being frightened, nervous and excited all at the same time at the birth of my one (and only) child so many years ago. Sarah summed in up so well in her post and I agree with her on all the points she made. Cherish each moment for they do truly pass in the bliink of an eye. My baby is grown now with babies of her own! You have so much to look forward to, and I wish a happy and healthy life for yourself and your child.
