Do you like Sushi?

Sometimes I think I would like to try it. I know a local Chinese buffet has a tiny selection of it but it seems no one takes it. And I dunno something about raw fish/meat sitting out for a few hours doesn't seem appealing & I don't think I could handle wasabee (sp?) sauce. Have you tried it? Is there something you'd recommend for someone who's never tried it?

I have tried different kinds of Japanese. I have tried Sushi with the wasabee sauce, the hotness of the sauce goes into my nose. But I always prefer the Chinese food.

You mean sashimi? Anyway, I get confused with the 2. The rolled pieces of rice (sushi, I think) is fine with me but I don't eat lots of it. The raw ones or sashimi, I will never eat them, let alone try them. I don't eat anything raw. And to imagine, some people actually eat these things while they are still alive (herring which is like sardines in Holland, for e.g.). I need to cook everything just to be sure. I even fry smoked ham like Parma ham (my husband is shocked). I like some Japanes food though like the Tempura and the mizu soup. Wasabe is not so bad. I like spicy things but I still think the Habanero sauce is the hottest.

Sorry. I should've posted under the author's topic. As usual, I have to put my glasses on. I hit the wrong button. I hope you don't mind.

p.s i can totally relate to what you are saying about the sushi sitting out there all day. that is why it is better to either go to a japanese restaurant or sushi bar or make it yourself. i never ever buy it from anywhere else like the supermarket, ewwww

There is something about raw fish that just turns me off. I have never had the desire to try that kind of sushi and probably never will. I have tried a vegetable sushi before though. It was years ago and I wasn't too impressed with it.

Hi there! I really like sushi sooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!! I don't know but for me it really tastes so good. I like tuna sushi. I also like california maki. I think it is Japanese food not Chinese. The Chinese thing is the siopao, siomai, noodles and soups. Happy my lotting to you!

I tried a California Roll and didn't like it - we took a couple of friends - one already liked sushi - he ordered for the rest - I really didn't like it - but I'm not a big fish fan

There are a lot of people that love sushi but I'm not one of them! Especially after I had to write a series on the subject and found out how it's made and the fish it uses, etc. Did you know that "sushi" is actually the type of rice they use, not the dish itself? It's vinegar rice, yech! I tried sushi once and nearly gagged, I didn't even swallow it.

I've tried some of the little sushi rolls from a chinese buffet place. They aren't really bad at all, but I don't know how much raw fish is in them. My kids have tried them too. I'm not bold enough to try those ones where the raw meat is sitting on top of a square of something... you know what I mean?

There are some types of sushi that I like, but I don't like all of them, or even that many of them. It's not that I don't like asian food or anything like that. It's just that sushi isn't the type of food that I like best.

i love sushi, i can eat it all day. for those who do not like the idea of raw fish then there is always vegetable sushi. i make vegetable sushi about 3 or so times a week. it is very healthy and low in calories and very filling.
