I woke up this morning, hot from cats laying on me and hydrolic pressure. I staggered to the bathroom and dealt with the latter and lay back down trying to keep the cats from over heating me again and I heard "furniture moving" sound of thunder -
"?" I kind of sat up and then it happened again.
That little cool front we got yesterday is giving us some more of that much needed rain.
of course that means I can't get back to sleep with all the noise (and the cats jumping)

there are some cats - well, a lot of cats actually, that are here for good - for various reasons. Sassy is too old, Timus has FIV, Oliver is our baby, Taj is MY baby, Solo is my grandson - he was my c-section kitten, Scamp I inherited - and now he's 12, Chalube and Kit we promised to not rehome, Rygel is too special, the roomie wanted to keep Ping and to keep Ping we had to keep Pong because Ping was/is so attached to his brother, etc, etc, etc...

Both my grandfathers always told me that thunder was potatoes rolling off God's roof.
Does it scare your cats? My dog Gus is terrified of thunder while Cookie couldn't care less. Thunder nights Gus nearly pushes me out of bed he's so close!

Well, the sound of Thunder does not really bother me unless it sounds like it is immediately overhead. Lightning is actually cool to watch I feel unless really close to you as well. I live in an area now that even though at times we get a lot of Rain, we do not get that much Thunder and lightning so the few times we do it is quite interesting to see.

Furniture moving sound of thunder, I haven't heard it called that but you are so right, it does sound just like that! I never thought of that and I like it! I'm going to have to remember that for future use. I wish it would rain here. We just had a heat wave where it was over one hundred degrees for days but it cooled off yesterday so it is feeling nice here, finally! Sometimes it seems like the heat will never end.
Have you tried the foam ear plugs to block out some of the noise? I buy them all the time and use them every day and I couldn't do without them now. They're almost as necessary to my life as breathing at this point!

Ma, ma, mia, fig-gero, now you have me singing! Mostly in my head, though.
I'm having pressure of my own. Sinus pressure. Ate two cloves of garlic and it's gone, the pressure, but not my sinus head. Have a ginger root boiling now to see if that will help me.
Well, I think you had wanted it before, now you got it! Be careful what you pray for!

KISS is amazing in that song.
Well sleeping with cats has it's hazards and animals always want to be fed around the same time every day or want to wake you up when they're having a crisis, so sleeping in with animals is hard.

Cats get really freaked out don’t they? Our poor dog is even worse whenever there is lightning and thunder. We have a tin roof and it is really loud just when it’s raining! My husband loves it, I feel a bit spooked and not too comfortable. I am a light sleeper and it definitely keeps me awake but the rain is most needed here too.

Are you a poet? The title indicates a poetic feeling. Oh! very nice topic. When it starts lightening I also starts jumping from one room to another. Oh it will be much better if I dug a underground shelter. It's very awkward when there is nowhere to hide excepting the toilet. LOL.

I borrowed (stole) it from one of my favorite songs by Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody... I'm not afraid of the lightening actually only a little disturbed if I'm not in some kind of safe building - its the more severe stuff that gives me pause - hail and tornados

Oh boy! Oh boy you disheartened me. But it's ok. Yes it's very frightening when there is a hailstorm or tornedo. Where do you take shelter then?

We could use some rain even with thunder and lightening. I used to have a dog who would hide under the bed when the thunder rolled.

We've had rain, too, since Saturday, and high winds yesterday, but no thunder.
And as much as I don't like the change in the weather, I'm glad it's nowhere near as drastic as our friends in the Philipines experienced over the weekend: the equivalent of a month's rain in 12 hours! And now, the storm is lashing at Vietnam.

Hey Elic! Now I have that song blasting in my brain! I loved
"Queen"! That is such a great song! Ahhh! Poor kitties! My
kitties don't really react to thunder and lightning. I have
watched them and they don't seem to really get spooked! I
think the vacumn upsets them more! But, I only have two cats
and I know how uncomfortable that can be with them stretched
out on top of me when I try to move in bed! You poor thing!
I can't imagine how you can breathe!

its actually a quote from a song by Queen - and I will say that flooding is pretty scary, not that I have had water in the house, tho when I was a child, we had a near thing. I'm actually on a raised area, and the only way I could have a flood is if most of Austin were already under water...
