On Saturday when I got home it was 102 degrees. So I went swimming. Sunday it was 99, could have gone swimming but didn't. Saturday was probably the last swimming day of the year. Yesterday it was 80's, starting to get overcast and breezy. Today, whoa, cloudy, windy, might get up into the 70's. Looks like Autumn is here...
This morning the kids were wearing long pants and jackets instead of shorts and no jackets for the first time since probably April or May. Cary was hilarious. Not only was he wearing jeans, but he was wearing TWO jackets. His nice thick one and a lighter one underneath. "Cary, you don't need two jackets." Ignore. I think he was a cat in a previous life. Guess I shouldn't complain. At least he's finally getting an awareness that he needs to change his routine with clothing when the weather changes. We used to have a hard time with that.
Hope it stays not too cold for a while so I can take long walks during the day. When it's really hot, I try and walk early or late.
Is the weather changing where you are?

Much to my annoyance it's actually getting warmer and not colder here, despite October being around the corner, I guess it's the Indian Summer we are having! I was actually sweating today walking home and I just had shorts and a t-shirt on! The trees are starting to lose their leaves so I know it is Autumn at last or Fall! On Sunday I was actually laying on the beach and even went into the sea! Even in the colder weather I still wear less clothing because I don't feel the cold, but I do feel the heat and find it intolerable so I welcome the colder weather with open arms. Least I will sweat less.

Spring and fall are perfect for me. I don't like heat and I don't like cold!

I like it too!
Actually I have my own version of Camelot in which it is not allowed to rain unless I'm in bed, among other things. Might as well add this to the list!

It is and I love it! Fall has always been my favorite time of year. Unfortunately, it has a habit of being a rather short season here in the Ozarks. I forsee rainy, sleety weather by the end of October. Just in time for Halloween, too!
It's really beautiful here when the leaves change. And now I live way out in the country in the middle of all these trees...I'm totally enjoying it. That is until the ice storms come and I am stuck out here on a dirt road.

Yuck, mud. I prefer Spring myself, 1) because days are longer and 2) because of the flowers...

My mother-in-law's house is up in red clay country and they had a heck of a time with it when they first moved there before they landscaped. They don't have to deal with a dirt road though. But I do remember them saying that when that stuff gets wet and gets on your carpet and so on, it's a huge pain getting it out.

Spring is very rainy here...so I prefer the fall when it is cool but drier.
We don't have regular dirt here. We have clay...and it can be as slick as ice to drive on a dirt road after a good soaker. Not to mention it is bright orange cause of the iron oxide in it. My mother was born in the east...Pennsylvania. And lived most of her life either in New York or Chicago. She said when she first say Missouri red clay that she felt she had moved to Mars.
Good thing about red clay...it dries out fast and is then almost as hard as concrete.

We are in our so called fall - but we do not have one really. I don't think any change in foliage. It will get cooler starting next month and I welcome this as I do not do well in the heat. And believe me - it can get hot! I actually prefer cooler weather and couldn't work anywhere now without an ac.
I loved the autumn in England and still miss it. But then neither do I enjoy very cold weather either. A week with snow would be good but no longer than that

Down the way where the nights are gay
And the sun shines daily on the mountain top
I took a trip on a sailing ship
And when I reached Jamaica I made a stop
CHORUS:
But I'm sad to say, I'm on my way
Won't be back for many a day
My heart is down, my head is turning around
I had to leave a little girl in Kingston town
Sounds of laughter everywhere
And the dancing girls swaying to and fro
I must declare that my heart is there
Though I've been from Maine to Mexico
CHORUS
Down at the market you can hear
Ladies cry out while on their head they bear
Ackie rice and salt fish is nice
And the rum is good any time of year
CHORUS

The rum is still good. The market ladies are quarrrelling and we cannot afford to import the salt fish from Canada. Reality time. Would I live anywhere else. NO. don't mind me as I am in such a tempsr. I rarely get into a temper. I do not remember the last one I got into. Trouble yes. Temper's no. And now I'm mad as shad!
BUT YOU SANG IT VERY WELL.

We have been having strange weather around here for sure, and it makes you wonder what is the Best way to dress for sure. We have been having warm weather here for a couple of days and then had a couple of days where it did not even reach 60, so that is probably contributing to a lot of people being sick around here for sure.

Yes, Dawn, the weather is changing - just the opposite to yours. We are now in the middle of Spring and summer is approaching rapidly.
When I packed for my trip to Sydney and Melbourne I didn't bother with any warm clothing, but my son looked up the weather for Melbourne and told me to pack a jacket. I packed one very light jacket - thankfully!
We wondered why the plane was swaying so much coming in to land in Melbourne with a rough landing. We waited for ages before we could disembark and were finally told they had so much trouble trying to get the steps to the plane. We were warned not to wear hats or anything that could blow away. We all had great difficulty walking across the tarmac. The wind was amazing! I assure you I kept my jacket on all the time I was in Melbourne. It was COLD!
Now I am back in sunny Queensland. The temp today was 33*C (around 92*F) but thankfully the humidity is only around 80%. Summer is coming and I always dread summer, especially when the humidity is in the 90's.

I have been in 46*C temp (somewhere around 114*F? - it's off my conversion scale) when in Broken Hill, and I had no trouble with the heat because it was a very dry heat and no humidity. I just have problems with being constantly WET with water dripping from my head, down my back!

Thank goodness for the jacket! It gets much hotter than that here (probably there too) but we don't have to deal with the humidity.

Yes it has changed drastically here in Minnesota as well. It was in the high 30's overnight. The leaves are changing and falling quickly as well. In fact we had 3 days in a row; Fri, Sat, and Sun with very high winds. Up to 54 MPH gusts and a steady wind of 35 MPH almost all weekend long. I lost 3 large branches from my Red Maple tree out front due to wind damage. Here's a photo of one of the branches lost. So those leaves REALLY fell off the tree huh? Going to have frost tonight possibly. That means I have to cover my tomatoes and watermelons tonight.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

On Halloween day 1991 we got four feet and one inch of snow. That's right 4 feet 1 inch (49 inches) in a 24 hour span. The whole city and most suburbs were shut down for 2 days due to the inability to get around other than by skis or snowmobiles.

Whut's snow?
We're about 75 miles west of Lake Tahoe, so we can go up and see the stuff if we like, but it doesn't come down to our level. Not so far anyway...

It's very up and down here. In the last days of winter we were having beautiful warm sunshiny days that were perfect...the nights and mornings were still chilly. Then it became hotter and we had a few hot nights. then a couple of horrid windy, dusty days, then it was hot Friday was windy, dusty and grey, Saturday was cloudy and warm. Today was lovely, hot but not too hot and now tonight, need a jacket on my bare arms.

I live in South Florida so it is only just slightly cooler down here. It got down to about 73 degrees the other night. But it is still nice, around 85 - 95 in the day and 75 - 85 at night. I am still going out to the pool and wearing shorts every day here.
Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

As Wolfie says. It's started warming up here! But it won't last and we have had a mild frost two mornings running now. There's an autumnal feel. I like the colder months although the occasional scorcher is bearable and reminds me that there is a sun up there somewhere. Today was actually just perfect. 64 degrees and sunny with a slight breeze.

hi dawn we are getting some rain, real rain like in water
'coming down in parched, arid , dry southern Ca. my do we need
it.the fire hazard warnings are off the charts, it is cooler now but not cold by any means just sweater weather. of course people are now complaining that the rain is messing up their schedules, well tough you know what. If this rain will keep us from having those terrible wild fires let it rain, let it rain. let it rain.

Better rain than fires! But you know, I came down there yesterday to say goodbye to my Aunt (she's moving back to New York) and the weather was better up here in Sacramento than it was down there, though the afternoon was nice!

the weather here has been really unusual.
the last 5 years or so,it's been a lot warmer than i recall it being in the past.
like right now,we had a cold snap,but it's back to high 70's.
while hurray on the less need of heat,it's a bit disturbing in a way.
by all rights i should be needing a jacket in september.

I'm living in a place with clear distinction among four seasons.
As per old saying here, every autumn rain brings a cooler day. And my parents always tell me in the beginning of autumn, it's still in summer in fact, the temperature is so high. But after mid-autumn, you will find the temperature reduce sharply. - And Oct 3rd is mid-autumn festival. So I really felt cooler these days, even a little cold. Especially, it's raining outside. It is forecast it's only 22~25 centi degrees now.

The weather is a little better today, we are having lots of sunshine and a bit warm, so yes it has bben nice, and yet yeaterday I had my heating on for a bit as it was cold.

It is changing in Australia but so much more slowly than usual. We have left winter behind and it is spring but it is not normally as cold and wet as it is at the moment at this time of year. We all thought we had left the cold weather behind on Saturday and Sunday because of the beautiful clear skies and warmer temperatures but the rain was back by Monday.
I can see my pool from the window and I can’t wait until it looks inviting again!

Oh has the weather changed here. Our last swimming day of the season was about a month ago because it has gotten a little cooler and rainy (and I hate the rain). Our poor pool was all but abandoned during the summer because the weather really never got warm enough. Between Friday evening and yesterday morning, the temperature here has dropped about 20 degrees and it is borderline miserable for us. Yesterday, I sat here in the house with a blanket wrapped around me all day and even had to turn on the heat in the car. And, in the evening we lit our first fire of the season in our fireplace.

We probably won't be seeing miserable until at least late November. Unless we get torrential rain. I hear this winter we're going to have an El Nino condition off the coast and that always generates lots of rain. Which we need. But I wish it would do it between 10 PM and 4 AM.
