We have a habit to eat with our hands since we have been taught this by our parents.
And will continue until we change our habits. I like eating with hands becoz I can tear the meat easily and can take whatever we want.
while eating with spoon and forks trouble me as I am not able to eat properly.

hi coolcat^^;;
i eat with my bare hands when we are out in the beach and eating seafood like prawns, fish and some shells. It's a lot easier to remove the outer shells and bone the fish
but i do use spoon and fork and sometimes chopsticks at home especially when i eat infront of the pc to avoid messing my hands to type
and well of course, there are food that we cannot actually eat with bare hands like soups and the like wherein we can use hands only with dry/fried food.

Yes of course, I don’t want to dirty my hands while eating. But that will depends on the food I am about to eat. Like when eating, when it is much needed to use the hand we used it. It boost my appetite sometimes when eating with my hand. And if I see a member of the family using their hand while eating , I get envious and I do the same. Filipino’s do that , eat using their hands.

Hi there coolcat!
Oh talking about eating I'm quite hungry right now. What do I usually used in eating it depends when I'm at a restaurant where in people are using spoon and fork I will see to it that I will follow what they are using. It's very shameful to used hands in eating while the others are formally using spoon and work.
But in my house I prefer to eat my food using my hands because for me our hands will secrete a salty substance which can add a flavor to whatever food we ate.
Hand washing is very important before and after eating.

I went to some place here in florida that had a dinner and a show. We were served the food without any forks or spoons. I found it very difficult to eat with just my hands, as did so many that were used to using the for and the spoon. I guess it is all how you were raised. I was also raised like the other responder that if I did not use my fork and spoon, I would get a slap or two. It would be considered disrespectful.

I usually eat with a fork and spoon but if it's something like chicken with a bone or a beef rib, then I'll use my hands. There are just some foods you have to use your hands with! :)

I eat with a spoon and fork. It takes a mastery to eat without using your hands especially when you need to peel off skins of certain food. So you can't really help, but to use your hands.

It depends what I am eating. If I eat a sandwich, a chicken leg, a piece of pizza or something similar I eat with my hands, but in most situations I eat with knife and fork or with a spoon. I was very young when I learned how to use a knife and fork. My parents wouldn't let me eat with my hands, and my father got very angry if I refused to use a knife and fork. In my country it is considered impolite to eat with your hands, there are a few exceptions and it is okay to eat chicken or other birds with your hands, but aside from that we have to use a knife and fork. When we are at a party we even eat pizza with a knife and fork, it is so much easier to eat it with your hands, but it is not considered polite.

some of us are so used to eating with bare hands but most of us know how to do it. i eat with bare hands too especially if u are in the beach, oh, how i love eating there. i use spoon and fork in some events. we use spoon and fork at home and more so when u go to parties or other social events. we should know how to appropriately act in different occasions.

I don't know what country you are from but I have seen people in India eating curries with their hands, which us Brits might struggle with! I like eating with my hands as long as it isn't messy, and fries tate better if you pick them up with your fingers!
I read in a magazine once that Madonna was in a fancy restaurant with celebrities and she started eating her salad with her hands, and everyone else copied her.
Nothing wrong with it at all. x

Hi coolcat,
i do use both hands and fork and spoon and it depends on what i am eating. If i am eating soup then definitely i would have to use sppon and if am eating noodles then i use fork but if i am eating our staple food that is roti with sabji or any other indian food then i have to use hands and spoon if it got curry in it. But mostly with hands.

I eat with a spoon if what I am eating fits on the spoon, if not I usally eat with a fork. I also eat with my hands but not like you were taught, instead I am talking about when eating finger foods, like pizza, donuts and apples.
I was raised in Canada and if I got caught eating with my hands I would get a slap.

Hi there Cool Cat!
I like eating with my hands when we are eating something fried but when eating something with soup or something oily and greasy, I prefer to use spoon and fork.

Talking wholly many people eat by hands as eating by firk or spoon turns to be a essy job. Although many people treat eating bu spoon as a high class trend but in my opinion eating by hands has many scientific advantages than eating bu fork or spoon. We should make a habit to eat by hands rather than artificaial metals.
