Do You Hold Your Breath When You Pass by People Smoking

It seems like everyday I come out of the train station, there is at least one person by the entrance smoking and blowing the smoke all over the place. I always hold my breath, look away and walk faster to get away from the smoke. I really hate smoke.
I guess they smoke out there because they are not allowed to smoke in the stations or on the trains. But do they have to blow the smoke all over the place and not consider others who do not smoke? This is annoying.
Does this annoy you too?

Yes. I always hold my breath when there is somene nearby me smoking. I just can't stand the smell of the smoke. I hate it a lot. There was once i almost beat the crap out of a guy who was smoking in a restaurant, (unluckily beside my table) even after I/waiter have asked him to smoke outside the restaurant. The smoke is really disturbing my fine dinner.

Yes, this annoys me as well. I do usually hold my breath when I pass those who are smoking. Depending on where they are I sometimes even cough or mutter under my breath. And don't even get me started on if I happen to get stuck outside with them...especially if I have my kids with me, because I can turn into a real b*tch then! LOL
Happy mylotting!

I do not care for people who smoke. I understand they (need) to smoke some place. But don't intentionaly blow it towards me just because i dont smoke. Yes, i have hd people do this. O i will be standing waiting on a bus and some person who smokes stands by me and lights up. So, I move out of their way and they move . Whats the deal??? Are they mad at me because i dont smoke? Sorry but smoke really bother me.

Yes, it does, so much. Me too, I always hold my breath even when I'm passing those who just finished with their smoke. I really hate it, but I hate the smoke, not the person who smokes. =) I would be very grateful and thankful if they do smoke so far away from me and let me free without smelling any smoke. The rules for smoker are now getting stricter and I'm really happy for it. =)

Me too. I do it all the time even with one of my teachers. Some people thinks that's disrespectful to those who smoke in front of you but i have to care for my health.

OMG I use to have too do that when I was departing the Staten Island Ferry in New York. Everyone departing would start to light up and I didn't want to inhale any of that second hang smoke. So I would have to hold my breath. I then started to get up earlier to be in the very front and then I would be able to run off the boat before everyone started to light up. Alot of smokers don't seem to care when they are smoking outside. Thinking its not going to hurt us non-smokers.

Yes, or how about smokers are let off last. That would be a good idea too.

i have grown into this habit of deliberately holding my breath and moving fast away from a person who is smoking.i feel people should be more considerate of others while smoking in public.

Cigerret smoke really bothers me, it actually makes it physically difficult for me to breath around it. Luckily I don't encounter it that much any more. A few of my friends smoke but they don't smoke indoors around me, when I am around them and they are smoking they are outside and the try not to blow smoke towards me and keep the cigerete down when not taking a puff so it is not as bad. But if I am ever stuck somewhere where this is lots of smoke, I will hold my breath or cover my mouth and nose a lot when I breath in.

There are so many smokers that it would never be possible for you to hold your breath every time you pass by people smoking. But obviously you may try so that as a passive smoker, you are affected to a lesser extent.

hai friend, just saw your discussion and yes the problem focused by you is suffered by most of the people but most of them don't oppose such act because they indeed would be doing the same somewhere else and rest of the people will be helpless as to oppose them would sometimes bring about an argument or such which will also be unhealthy. Inhaling the smoke can lead to some serious health problems so to oppose such actions there must be some rules so that we can authoritatively as the smokers to stop it. In my country india their is a strict rule that says that one should not smoke in public this helps alot to reduce such activity is their such rules in your country too this can help a lot.

hi how are you??
I do hold my breath too and i really hate persons who smoke they do not know what would be the complication later on. I really do not know why many people used to have smoke?. they should consider other people, if they want to smoke they should in a private place.

I think it is globally practising the no smoking in public, if they do, need to go in smoke zone area. I used to hold my breath whenever someone is smoking near me, I still believe of a second hand smoker can have the risk of lung cancer five times, as compared to first hand smoker.

It's really annoying when somebody smokes in public places. I always hold my breath whenever I pass by a smoking person or whenever someone pass by who is smoking. But I can't hold my breath that long so I just cover my mouth with a handkerchief. I have a friend who is smoking and she always apologize to me when she need a smoke. She position herself wherein the smoke is not in my way. Sometimes it doesn't matter where she position herself because I can still smell the smoke and it always triggers my allergic rhinitis. Bad for me.

yup, I don't want to be a second-smoker. Everytime the smoker walks by, I will hold my breath just in case I breathe in the smoke unfortunately.
If I see a guy stand still there for smoking, I will not walk to them and walk another way to avoid.
Happy myLotting!
