Dear MyLotters,
I have a hobby of collecting phonecards,stamps,old coins/currency notes.
I have a few album for my phonecards and most of them are from Singapore and Malaysia.
For the past two years, I have a new hobby, that is to collect "redpacket"(angpow packet - during Chinese New year). At this moments, I have 7 albums all together for my redpackets collection. I only collect those redpackets from banks and companies.Either Hari Raya and Deepavali packets I also collected them.
I collected redpackets from different countries like Indonesia,Malaysia,Singapore.
I really hope I can get some redpackets from China,Hongkong and Taiwan. Till now, I am still unable to get those redpackets from China, Hongkong and Taiwan.
Apart from that, I also like to collect those soft toys and souvenirs from Mcdonalds and KFC fast food restaurant.
I also have some Coke cans/bottles at home as part of my precious collections.
Currently in Malaysia, McDonalds is having the free Contour Glass promotion. There are 7 designs in total and I hope I can get all those 7 designs to add to my collection.
Do share with me what is your hobby ???What is the things that you have collected so far ?
Thank you !!!

Well I am here in the USA and I have collected lots of things over the years. When I got with my husband I started collecting tins especially M&M' tins. Then After a while I got kind of bored and lacking space I began to go through and only keep what I truly enjoyed of them. And over then years I have begun collecting M&M things. I have ornaments so many differnt ones I can do a whole tree at christmas in them. I have the M&M light sets too. I had a mini van for years and would add M&M's to my dash all the time and when it blew up I took them out and kept them but have never got another vechile to put them in yet. I had someone nickname me 3 years ago "Teddy Bear" and now it is like everyone gets me teddy bear stuff and even the kids bring me teddys to add to my collection even though they own them. I have so many I have run out of room for them. I still keep everything for it is nice to collect them but now I am only picking up certain types like pictures for my wall or shirts with them on it or something I can really use with them on it. I also have collected coins and still have a few that no one has ever really heard of the coutries come from. I am currently in the process of ordering all the M&M things from AVON which are things like clothes cups and othe things you can actually use. I also collect pictures from magazines of M&M's just for fun but not to many. I have been finding old coke and pepsi bottles even found an old Dr. Pepper bottle last night on a dump. If you are interested in collecting or getting your hands on some of them let me know and we can work out some arrangments for you to get some. Can you explain to me what redpackets are I just do not understand what they are. I to have collected Mcdonald toys and other fast food joins toys. I have all the ty teddy bears from Mcdonalds of course. Hope this helps you in you knowledge of what people collect and why.

Hi Birdlady,
Sorry I miss out the part about explaining to you what is Redpackets.
During Chinese New Years (for Chinese people tradition), a married people/elderly will give redpackets to kids when they come to visit our house. It is a kinda of tradition and has been carrying down for years.
The packet will be in red colour with any kind of designs and we will put money inside the redpockets.
When I was a kid, I received alot of redpackets from my relatives and my parents during Chinese New Year.
But now I am married and it is my turn to give out redpackets to small kids.
Nowadays, banks also come out with redpackets free of charge for their customers during chinese new years.A few weeks before chinese new years, banks will start to distribute the free packets to their customers.

Now I dont have any hobby, dont seem to find the tiem for it :p Or if playing mafia wars on facebook can be counted as a hobby I can say I have one :P
Earlier I used t ocollect wrapper of the chocolates I used t oeat. Majority of the time somebody or the other used to give chocolates. So collecting the wrappers served two purpose. Firstly I could keep a count of the number of chocs I was eating and secondly I could always recollect who gave me which choclate for what ocassion and it would bring back all the good memories. I dont even know where it is now :(

That is if i think a item is having quit interesting features and unquiness i definetely purchase it. Like that till now i have collected some stationery items like pens, books, covers, pads, pencils, erasers, colors etc. I do not have any particular item to specify as i can buy anything if i like it. I wish you get your redpackets from china, hongkong and taiwan.

I really don't have a collection now, though when I was still younger, I had a collection of stationary and stickers, I used to put them in an album, though now I have no idea where they are. lol.
Nowadays, my hobby is making scrapbooks, I like arts and crafts. I have made some for my friends and family, and my current project now is for my boyfriend and me.. I'm now sorting all our pictures and just choosing those that I would put in my scrapbook.

Hi Ingkingderders,
You have such an interesting hobby, doing scrapbook.
Too bad I am not good in art and as for my photos,I only sorted them nicely in the album,no extra designs on the album. No idea on what to design on the photo album.
When I was a kid, I used to collect stationaries too,but now I really don't know where I put them. Probably my mother has thrown them away as I have grown up now.

Lol. my mom just told me that my stationaries are still in our house, she kept it in a box somewhere in my room.. hehehehe. well, maybe I should start using them now, cause when i was collecting them I would just buy and buy but never use them.. lol. now I have so many, even if I write a love letter to my boyfriend everyday, it would take months before I use up all of it. hehehe.

Hi Riyabass,
When I first read your responses, You are a person who is very environmental friendly.
Do you mean that you collect any kind of plastic bag and bottles at home?
That must be alot and need alot of spaces to store all those bottles at home.Somemore,if the bottle has been used up,then you might have to clean them first before storing them.

my hobby is collecting beads, key chains and yu yu hakushu cards(i know quite childish but i do enjoy it). I like the sparkle of beads and also the floral designs. i place each of them on small glass cubes but i only collect one of each kind. my key chaines are all hung inside my closet my whole closet that is i just put nails in rows and columns and place them all there. i like key chains from different countries which my mom buys for me in her tours and whenever he finds one peculiar on. it doesn't really matter to me if they are expensive or not as long as they're unique. my yu yu hakushu cards are place in a photo album and i love them all.

I collect music from around the world. Before I visit a new country I try to find some information about the local bands, and I usually buy a couple cds while I am there. I didn't buy all of my cds myself, some of them I have recieved as presents from friends. So far I have music from Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech republic, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Greece, France, Italy, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam and Russia. When I get the chance to visit Bulgaria and Romania I plan to buy some cds there.
When I was younger I had many other collections. I used to collect postcards from around the world, and I had a lot of them. I also had a big collection of souvenirs from different places, and I still keep a few of them.

I have a lot of hobbies, going to the beach is one of my favoiurties, I like to play in the ocean, enjoy the sunshine, playing games on the beach with friends, how nice! And it is not an expensive luxury hobby so it is always affordable. :-) The other thing is I used to collect stamps as my hobby but since when I was 13 or 14 years old, I started losing interests and collect earrings instead.

I love collecting things, I have a collection of fobs, for those of you that dont know what a fob is, ask your pappy... heehee
In the olden days way way back, when guys used to have pocket watches, they usually had them on a chain, a fob was like a shield type thing that you hung on the chain, usually silver or gold, sometimes both, people used to get them at retirement, or sometimes they would get one for winning a competition, they are usualy engraved on the back with the name of the person and the date and what it was for.
I also collect musical instruments, I have two 1950's Fender stratocasters, a very old Piano... And a Stradivarius violin (I think it's around 100+ old)...

So far my hobby I really enjoyed much is to collect several blouses, sandals or shoes and skirt. Once I drop by to mall and saw something very attractive, I really try to buy it for myself though sometimes I consider it a bad habit because I don't have any savings because I spend too much with it.

Hi Irene,
Your hobby needs to spent alot of money as you need to buy them in order to collect them.
I am willing to spend money on collecting souvenirs from McDonalds and KFC.
Like today, I just got my 1st contour glass from Mcdonalds. it is a limited edition glass from Mcdonalds.
For the next few coming weeks,I will have to spend more on Mcdonalds in order to collect all those contour glasses.

I have 2 collections! My job gives me the chance to go to different cities in North America. I didn't realize it at first but I started collecting fridge magnets from the cities I've been to. But, the collection I am most proud of, which some of my office mates found weird is my collection of exit letters. I work for a company with around 500 people, 150 or so are staff. When a staff quits, they send out an email addressed to everybody saying goodbye, thankful for the experience, their contact info, etc. I've collected a lot of creative letters over the years. One day, I will create my own exit letter. It would be creative! My last hurrah! And that would be the end of this collection.

I collect mostly electonic gadgets and electric tools to sustain my hobby. I like woodworking, doing electronic projects so I want everything handy in case I need them. Actually people say I have more than what I need, but just like any other collectors, it's difficult to say when is enough. Collecting becomes an obsession.
Cheers.
