They said that it's better to have six small meals everyday than regular meals. Because it will help reduce sudden urges in our blood sugar. It prevents us from overeating because of hunger. It's easier for the digestion and can prevent stomach ulcers from missed meals.
How about you, how many meals do you have everyday? Do you often eat heavy meals? Do you eat regularly?

Hmmm. i think the usual number of meals I have is just 3. Just my normal breakfast, lunch and dinner.. sometimes I have afternoon snack... On weekends though, when I'm just at home, I think I have more than 6 snacks per day. LOL. I just eat when I'm bored, it's not a good habit, I know, but I just can't really help it. heheheh. It try to be more healthy on weekdays.

Well me either, during weekends when I just stay at home got nothing to do except eating.LOL I watched DVD movies while eating, eating while reading books. I think weekends could be a good time to free our self from any restrictions. And do everything that we fancy.LOL But if someone is on diet it's should be all days.
Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your day!

Hey careguarden! I don't eat properly and I know it and am not
very proud of it either! I eat pretty much one meal a day! I
eat dinner! And I eat very late in the evening! I can usually
go all day without eating anything at all unless I am out and
then I have to eat something! If I am home during the day I
usually am not even hungry or am but just ignore it. If I am
out doing chores or shopping then I have to stop and get something
to eat! I am unfortunately a "night eater"! I enjoy eating more
in the evening which is the worst time to eat! And you would think
that I would be so skinny, but I am not! And I love cakes and cookies
so I love to snack at night too! But, I have also learned to love
yogurt which helps with curbing my snacking on the cookies and cake!

Hello my friend Opal, You can't be skinny even if you eat one meal, since you eat at night, so it greatly affects your digestion process, and you love cakes and cookies and those foods were hard to digest because of it's ingredients. That makes one gain weight. So it's more likely the same with those eating 3 meals or more. You're eating habit isn't really healthy. But yogurt is good, that can be a good start. Anyway there's a lot more benefit on eating 6 smaller meals a day, and it's more like a snacks. Though having to adopt this kind of habit is quite hassle. But it's a choice.
So, have a great weekends!

I agree with you and what you have mentioned is true. Usually I eat like 4-5 times a day. I am hypoglycemic and if I will skip meals, its bad for my health. Especially if I am active, there are times that I eat like 5-6 times of small meals in a day. I seldom eat heavy meals but if ever I will do that I will just eat two heavy meals in a day. I eat regularly and on time, I feel so weak if I didn't eat on time so for me eating on time is very important as well.

I eat three meals a day regularly. I don't think the meals I eat are heavy. I do eat snacks in between meals. I eat a snack between lunch and brekfast and one between lunch and dinner. I try to keep it healthy but I do not always eat healthy snacks, but my breakfast lunch and dinner are always healthy and well balanced.

Hi Careguarden,
I have exactly three meals in a day. I can't imagine how to survive with six meals in a day. Somemore,it is too hassle to be always in the kitchen to prepare the food for that six meals.
As I prefer to have home cooked dishes, I stick to three meals in a day : breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Most of the time, I will prepare breakfast for my husband,my son and also myself.
As for lunch, the meal is also prepared by me.
Only for dinner time, if my mother-in-law is at home, she will the person who is doing the cooking. Only when she is not at home, then I will takeover the cooking part.
I do eat regularly and it is good to eat on time,no gastric problem and always stay on to healthy food.

Hello my friend shia,
yeah it's indeed hassle to prepared six meals a day, it's quite impractical, and especially if you have family it's hard to fit this eating habit, like you have smaller meals and the rest has huge meals. But there's some few advantages having 6 meals a day, like it will reduced our body fat storage and control blood sugar levels and insulin production. But if you're more comfortable of having a regular three meals a day it's still fine. This kind of habit said is more healthier, and especially those who's trying to lose weight.
Anyway thank you for sharing with us and enjoy your weekends!

...Hi careguarden, I am trying to get to the place where I don't eat three meals a day, I try now to eat one full meal and mini bites throughout the day. As you get older, you don't need a whole lot of food, your digestive system changes, so does your metabolism. So I am trying to reprogram myself. I think I can do it, in fact I know I can. So I keep traveling until I reach my goal. Take care always.

Hello artistry,
Yeah you're right as we get older our digestive system change, as it's not good for us to eat heavy meals and as our metabolism rate slow. So it's much better to eat smaller meals with a balance amount of protein and carbohydrates. Of course you can make it! Anyway do take care as well and enjoy your weekends!

I have never heard of this concept of six small meals.I mostly eat three four meals a day from there three are very heavy.Breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the evening i eat some light snacks to boost my energy levels.I eat regularly on time. There are times when i have a lot of work then i eat late in the afternoons. When i was working out in a call center, i used to do the second shift. My work will get over at 10PM.I will reach home at 11 and eat food that time. After that for the food to get digested i will sleep at 12AM.

I always eat 5 meals a day: breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner and midnight snack. I eat a lot during breakfast. That why I eat less after morning. I have read that if you want to lose weight, it's advisable to eat a lot during your breakfast.

I don't have a set amount of meals that I eat everyday but I do eat throughout the day. I tend to snack off and on all day and have smaller meals at mealtime. I prefer to eat more than the standard three meals a day so that I can maintain a full stomach and that helps prevent me from over eating at any one meal and suffering from a belly ache and being tired. I think it keeps you energized and ready to go if you eat more smaller meals through out the day. It will help you to have better concentration which can have a profound affect on you at work and help you a lot in the long run.

Yeah, you're right eating smaller meals a day give us more energy, prevents us from hunger, reduced our food craving, control blood sugar levels and insulin production, and reduced body fat storage. This is good habit for those who are trying to loss weight. But this can be very difficult to adopt at first since most people are quite busy to prepare their food, or when they're on some occasions or birthday where you can't help but to eat more you usually take. But there are more advantages than disadvantages on this type eating habit. Anyway it's good that you make it as a habit.

Six meals a day will be good for you since you're on diet. If you're eating six smaller meals a day, lets say, you wake up at 7:00am and have your breakfast, 10:00 another small meal, 12:00 your schedule for lunch, 3:00 mini meal, 6:00 your dinner and 9:00 your last meal. Research said that eating smaller meals a day can help you achieve your weight loss goals as opposed to the traditionally thinking that 3 meals a day, or skipping meals is best. By eating 6 meals a day your metabolic rate will increase thus burn more calories all day long. Your level of hunger will diminish while your energy level rises. You will also able to maintain balance blood sugar levels, which will help prevent hunger.

I usually eat whenever I am hungry, this may be only 3 meals a day some days and tend to be larger and other days I just eat small amounts more regularly. I would not consider my meals to be heavy as I eat a mostly Raw Vegan diet.
Today I had a large fruit smoothie for breakfast, a salad for lunch and steamed vegetables for dinner. 3 meals but none are what I would consider heavy and digested pretty easily!
Smoothies are a big part of my diet, some days I have 2 or 3 and never usually go through any day without having one. Some days I will start off with a large smoothie, then just snack on fruit all day without having another 'meal' that is large. This way works better for my energy levels throughout the day as my body does not have to put all its energy into digesting the food!

Is that so, but if you will have six meals in a day maybe you will get fat and very heavy. I think eating 3 meals a day is just right.it really depends on what you eat in order for you to be healthy.Try eating eating fruits and vegetables so you won't get diabetes.I eat heavy meals during lunch while in dinner I only eat less. For me 3 meals a day is better.

It won't make you fat contrary to the traditional thinking that eating 3 meals a day is best. In smaller meals, you don't have to eat the same amount as you eat on your regular 3 meals. Like on your breakfast you can eat egg, cereal or juice, on lunch, vegetable and fruits and so on., you must eat food that's high in protein but low in carbohydrates. By eating 6 meals a day you won't feel energy slumps like when after you eat our lunch. Your body is working so hard to digest the huge meal you eat. So by eating smaller meals you will be consuming far less per meal. It will accelerate your muscle growth, increase your energy level and metabolism, burn half of the calories and store very little fat.
Anyway thank you for sharing with us and have a great weekends!

I have a 3 regular meal a day. Sometimes when I am tired when I went home I do not bother to eat anymore because when I feel heavy I can't sleep early every night. I can't do six meal a day, my stomach have a problem regarding digestion of food. I survived in a 3 regular meal per day.

I have three regular meals every day, but sometimes on odd days, I many feel a bit hungry at mid-morning and will have a small snack then, but this is rare for me to do this. I think it is important to sit down and take the time to eat properly and slowly whether you have fewer larger meals or more smaller meals. If you eat slowly, then your body will tell you when it had had enough. I believe then it is important not to eat when you have stopped feeling hungry. - Derek

Hi,
That is really an old fashioned mindset where some people still believe that in order to lose weight they need to severely restrict their calories or cut back on how many meals they are having, when quite often the reverse will happen, their metabolism will slow down so much because the brain will think that they're in famine and store every remaining food morsel they eat as fat. There is a point where you can lower your caloric intake to an acceptable level for your body, but if you lower it too little that would happen. Yes, I also know people that eat only 2 meals a day becuase in their minds they believe that's the way for them to lose weight. Well, they've been doing it for a while and they haven't lost anything? Why? Because If you're only eating 2 meals a day they are severely decreasing their metabolism, because the body needs fuel in order to burn calories. At one point I also ate 2 meals a day thinking that was the way to lose extra lbs. Well it's not and usually the reverse will happen. Now I eat 6 small meals a day, exercise and I am a lean/athletic female with a very speedy metabolism. I can eat pretty much what I like and not gain. Though I will say I do try to eat very healthy about 90% of the time, and allow myself the occasional cheat food 10% of it. So yes I do eat regularly every 3-4 hrs and very rarely eat something heavy unless it's a holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas and that will be my indulgence.

I eat 2 full meals a day lunch and dinner. In the morning I do not eat much a very small donut stick or one package instant oatmeal. I eat maybe sometimes a plate of leftover or half a sandwich for lunch. Dinner I eat a full meal. Sometimes I will have a dish of ice cream about 9pm.

I am on the 1st five meals, but my meal than eat less. I would like meals on the 1st more than three meals a day much better. Multi-day meal to lower cholesterol even more. Multi-day meal would not stretch the stomach, so that regardless of the beauty or on the physical health benefit for everybody.
