They say that we find more happiness in simple things and i agree with this. i really feel happy when i just look at the sunset and sunrise, when i wake up in the morning and drink coffee, when i am cooking in the kitchen, when i hear a baby laugh and when i see my loved ones smiling. reading books, listening to music and just sitting on the couch while daydreaming also make me happy, happier than when i do other things.
Fellas, come share your happiness stories . i'd love to hear about them ^^

I can list a huge number of things but I am just listing a few.
The smell of rain, the gentle breeze accompanied by a dristle, the sight of birds, the twitter and chirping of the same, rainwashed green leaves spreading an aura of freshness all around, having some good tea in the morning, a joke, some light hearted teasing at home by my loved ones,a romantic book, a romantic filmon television,,an old classic film, good music / my favourite film songs, a dish that has turned out well, hot rice with simple rasam, the thought of being able to afford so much in life, chatting with friends,a kind word from my husband and son, a successful shopping where I could purchase something thta I had wanted --there are many many more things that can make me happy.'happiest' is the superlative degree -- and so I would say that being able to enjoy these simple pleasures is a boon --this ability makes me the 'happiest'.

Oh my gosh I have a long list of things that make me happy. Well, I'm probably the most happiest when I've spending time with my partner who is my soul mate. Everything we do together is very special and precious to me. Also I enjoy seeing cute animals playing, babies laughing or gurgling, the smell of rain, a rainbow, snuggling with your sweetie on a cold day, hanging out with friends, traveling and exploring new cultures, trying out new restaurants, a great book, a movie I've wanted to see, listening to classical music on a rainy or stormy day, making love, the endorphin rush you get when you're exercising, cooking fab meals, finding an outfit on sale, the smell of coffee, when you get your hair done at the salon, a nice compliment from someone, reading self help books, the sounds of birds chirping, being in nature especially hiking, looking at photos, Halloween my favorite holiday, watching planes take off, flying in a plane, omg anything chocolate! eating seafood especially steamed mussels, I also enjoy anything on the LOA/ The Secret, watching a favorite show on TV like Eastwick for me, trying out new recipes, the smell of the ocean, being at the beach, suntanning, watching snow fall when you're inside, the glorious colors of autumn, seeing a play, when my partner sends me flowers, when you lose a few lbs, doing yoga, a Bday card in the mail, helping others, admiring my beautiful home every day, surprise getaways with your partner, going to the spa and having spa treatments and being pampered, when my husband surprises me with a designer purse (happens often), being happy and positive and avoiding negative people, all negativity such as the news, being healthy, being surrounded my loves ones, hanging out at coffee bars, when you find a great fitting pair of jeans, etc. Ok well I think I have a pretty detailed list now. :)

I believe that you can find happiness in gratitude. Just acknowledging the things in life that are blessings, you soon realise just how lucky you are. I'm especially grateful for the beauty I see in nature, the kindness of strangers and my cats. My cats give me unconditional love and joy everyday and they're the most gorgeous creatures!
Even the tiniest of joyful moments and blessings, when acknowledged, really make you realise just how amazing life can be.

having a good meal or reading a good book certainly makes me happy. playing with my cats and watching their antics also make me a very happy person. to some, these things may be mundane but to me they are hard to come by. having the time to sit down and truly enjoy a good meal is a luxury. i like to sit down, take my time to decide what to eat and enjoy the meal without distractions like phone calls, messages or thoughts about things i have to do. laying my hands on a good book and have time to actually finish it is another luxury for me. so i guess they are simple, but yet not so simple, things that make me very happy.

Rainbows; pots of bubbles; the smell of rain; texts/calls from my sons; walking on a patch of virgin snow; splashing in puddles;watching an affectionate hug; a compliment; knowing I've mede a good job of something or brightened someones day... there are so many simple pleasures in life and sometimes we forget just how lucky we are to have them. Thanks for reminding me how many good things I have in my life

no prob.^^ i was just thinking that we are too busy with looking for the big things and we complain about feeling empty and later, we stop and realize that we are not happy and we are not satisfied. the contentment level has become so high that simple things fall short of our happiness meter when these are really the things that make us the happiest. i'm happy that you found insight from these. keep smiling! ^^

The following simple things make me the happiest person on earth:
1. Kisses and hugs from my husband and kids
2. Smiles and laughters of my kids
3. Little accomplishment from school--stars, smileys, and postive comments from teachers
4. Cooking for my family and seeing them enjoying the food that i prepared
5. "Daily updates" with my kids before going to bed
6. Praying for and with my family (hearing mass/going to church together)
7. receiving a text from my husband asking me "how am i doing and if i already take my lunch?"
8. A naughty look from my husband
9. Walking hand-in-hand withmy husband in the rain/under the rain
10. singing song together with my husband and kids
...so cool, so simple but drives me crazy to be happy!

Hi ladyella,
An old song, smell of the mud soaked in the first few droplets of rain, pat on the back for some good job done, a smile from a stranger or the most unexpected person, an act of kindness, we are the only breed of animals who survive because of the selfless act of kindness.... thinking of an old joke, thinking of old times, looking at my son, listening to my daughter's good deeds she did in school and countless other things which comes to my mind... really a very good post....

thanks! this is one of my firsts discussions,, actually. i was thinking of something that could catch people's attention and i thought about this. i'm glad that many people are willing to share their simplest joys and are not afraid of being labeled as too shallow. hope you find more joy in those simple things. look around, there's more! ^^

well,i think it dpends on your mood.when you feel good, you are happy because of such pretty and simple things, but you can be unhappy with them when you are in a bad temper.you may get no pressure in life,so you regard everything is nice.If you have to work hard and be busy because of making money, you wont feel happy when cooking.

well, i can see your point there. maybe the essence is seeing with the same eyes and the same zest for everything despite things. i am a busy person too but i still look forward to cooking because it makes things go slower and therefore, more time to look around and contemplate and dream.^^

Our life is very simple.. and events happen in our lives are simple.. where in my case I feel very if I share my a bit of knowledge to any one. And while I meet and speak with people and while saying hai!!
I like to live in a farmhouse with full of gardening. This natural atmosphere really makes me happy every moment.. and in my present world its comes like once in a blue moon.

why, what kind of world are you living in right now? i believe that no matter where you are, simple things can be fond. we are the only ones that make the things around us complicated thereby making life complicated as well. i hope you find more time to able to see all these things. it's a blessing. ^^

Life is pretty busy these days, so the best things to make me happy are when I am able to slow down life and enjoy it with my family. Things like spending a leisurely day at the beach with my kids or hiking through the nearby rain forests and sitting by a waterfall for lunch are what bring me the most joy!
Laying down and relaxing with a good book or an epic movie when I can get some spare time at home are good ways to relax my mind as well. I also enjoy long drives in the country as it seems to relax my mind and I forget about the hustle of city living!

yes, i agree. city life is really so stressful and sometimes i just realize that nothing is simple in it anymore. people are so urbanized and all and their needs have become so great that simple things were forgotten. never let go of those simple joys because they'll be your getaway when life becomes too pressing. cheers!

My simple things and my simple moments are these: To wake up in the morning and to go into my garden. There, to smell the flowers and see the dew on the leaves. The cool air of the morning invigorates and refreshes. I love these simple things!

The things that make me happy...
1) Spending time with the one I love more than life, even if it's just a passing kiss, it makes getting out of bed worth while.
2) Being spectator to a high quality sunrise/sunset when I'm the only person I can see, or even better if she's there with me.
3) being able to relax and know that I have no work to do.
Have a good day!

I enjoy a beautiful sunny day, a waterfall, the waves in the beach, going through a small country town, log cabin in the mountains, smell of morning coffee, and different colors of leaves in the autumn.
