in the summer time i like lighter meals because it is so hot outside and i don't like to have that heavy full feeling. but it has started to get colder now and i like something that is going to warm my bones! my favorite soup for this time of the year is zuppa toscana. it is a soup they make at the olive garden but i make it at home. what is your favorite winter meal? share it and if you don't mind.. share the recipe as well! i love finding new things to make to keep me cozy!

Hi pchickk17, we don't have winter here but the North Wind does bring the cold around this time of the year. We call it the BER months - four months actually of celebrating Christmas. The cold could really get chilly. We do prepare plenty of chicken soup cooked in a variety of ways. Foremost is the]tinola, a viand with chicken sauteed in garlic, onion, ginger, a little fish sauce, and then poured into a casserole of water with papaya or chayote, and chili leaves. Great to combat colds and influenza, especially now that we have the pandemic swine flu.

I am from the Philippines, we don't have a winter season but we do have a rainy and typhoon season, during those times Pinoys usually eat soups and stew. I, personally, like sinigang, nilaga, sopas, mami, miswa, champorado, lugaw, molo, lomi and a few more that I can't seem to remember at the moment. I just hope you are familiar with at least one of those that I mention.
