Call or text?

When you have something to tell another person through the phone, what does your impulse allow you to do? Do you dial the number and give the person a ring? Or do you go to the messaging center to send a text message?
Most of the time i just straight up dial and call the person. I think it saves me a lot of time.
But I'm not sure if that works for other people too.

Hi, barbiejune
I am lazy when it comes to sending text messages. I prefer calling especially when it's family. However, when it's someone I have not met yet, I just send a text message. Also when I know that the person is busy and what I have to say is not very important nor urgent, I would just send a text message.
Have a nice day!

It depends on the thing i want to talk about. If it's a matter of emergency I'll call but if say it's about emotional thing, I prefer to text it to the other person so I can check if what I am saying will have the effect I want. Like when my husband and I were arguing over something, I tend to text him and one more thing, I can't talk when I'm upset or when I'm emotional...

Hi Barbie June,
For me, it is fully depend on the situation.
If it is quite emergency, then I will call the person straight forward.
If it is not emergency case, then I prefer to go for SMS as it costs cheaper.
I do SMS alot either to my friends,my siblings or my husband.
I like to play with SMS (texting). and I can tell you that I can type the SMS without looking at my keypads.I am not praisin myself, but I really can do SMS while I am watching a TV.

I text them when i have to say something that i think it will be better to explain it with words. Some issues are so difficult to speak that i prefer to use a more impersonal way to communicate them but i prefer to make a call almost all the time.

I definitely like to text more because it is faster and require the person I'm trying to reach to have their phone around or even next to them. Texting is also great because I can do it for free on my iPod touch and iPhone!

I call since I don't have text messaging on my cell. I chose not to have this program. It's faster to call. I also didn't want to pay the hefty fees to send or receive texts. Am not one to use my cell much. I'd prefer never to talk on the phone since it's not my favorite thing to do. Our kids mostly call the house unless they need to get ahold of me fast. Then they call my cell if I'm gone.

It depends really on what I want to talk about. If it involves numbers and details, then I'd prefer to Text it. So that he/she won't need to look for a pen and paper, at the same time, it'll save us more time than spelling the figures out.
On the other hand, if it's about instructions or clarification on something, then I'd go for calling instead.

just depends on what if it's going to be about, if i'm talking to my boss and don't want my partner to know i use the text on my internet. so he doesn't know what i'm doing (it's a long story on why i do it that way) but the have been other times when it needs to be explained in person or on the phone.

That is depend on urgent or not urgent. If that is urgent, I always phone call their phone. But if do not urgent, I only send message for them.
But sometime for the same celullar provider I always make phone call, because more cheap than send message

I like to dial more than texting. But before dialing I always think about the person. If I need to call dial him or her at office time when he or she normally remains busy, then I prefer to text. Because I know during meeting or busy time it is not possible to pick up a call. However if I call at night to just talk then I dial up always. So it entirely depends upon time and the person I am calling.

If I just want to see how someone's doing or to catch up I will usually call. If it's to give directions, drop someone a line, remind my husband of something, then I will text. I have also been known to text someone when it's been a while since I talked to someone that I really don't want to talk to. That way, at least I've been in touch but I can avoid awkward parts in a conversation.

If it's a small conversation that only takes a max of five sentences I text. If its going to be longer than I call. My biggest pet peeves is when I get a person who wants to text a whole 10plus minute conversation. I will text a few responses and than call them or I will stop texting and wait for them to call.

Hi barbiejune!
I prefer to call. If the message is really important, I would rather call. There are more messages I can relay by calling rather than texting. Time is very important and therefore we can't just text if the response of the person we are texting is urgent.

I too do the same thing like you.I call when i want to send information to someone. It saves me a lot of time.If i text, it will take me a lot of time to send the message and sometimes the person may not understand what i have sent.I i have a qwerty keypad phone then i will text as it will be very easy for me to type all the letters.I send messages only when i am not able to contact someone or during festivals.

i call if its important and the information is needed fast, but if its just saying hello then a text is fine.
i hate it when the info is urgently needed and they have just texted you, in this country sometimes i receive text 1 hr late and that really irritates me.

It depends who I want to connect to.Sometimes I prefer sending sms because it is more interesting.Let's say when I know my boyfriend is busy I just write something to him and I know when he later see his phone he will smile at the though I was thinking about him.
