The movie tells us about the themes of bravery and of cowardice. Bravery bespeaks about one's concern for his people in particular and for his kingdom in general. Honesty is the byproduct of one's bravery. Lies and deceptions are the fruits of cowardice. Cowardice speaks about the person's insecurities in life. The one who needs so much attention is a coward. But, the one does not even care for a single reward is said to be brave enough to face the consequences.

i belive the film gladiator shows alot about bravery and commitment from maximus, but not so much cowardice from the emporors son and instead insane ambition and jealousy.... but yeah the emporors son is a bit of a wuss.

Interesting analysis. Can't say I agree that it's the main point of the movie, but these are two factors that are envolved in the movie a lot, yes. The bravery from Sir Maximus and the cowardice from the emperor's son.
