I'm burying another crockpot

I dunno what happened on this one but I'm really disappointed I've only had this one for 6 months. But I put the crock in the sink to soak I was just cleaning out the debris and water ect and I noticed with my fingers what felt like a crack. Sure enough I dump out all the water and theres a semi circular crack and another one as well. I"m not sure if someone put something in the crock while it wasn't being used? Or if it was from moving it into the fridge last week even though it was a lil warm or what happened? Other than that fluke I had a few months with my other I've never had any problems moving a crock from the crock to the fridge or the fridge back to the crock with my other. I"m so bummed.

3Snugglebunnies, what brand of crockpots are you using? I want to make sure I don't have that brand. Do you cook a lot in your crocks? I haven't used mine since last fall and I'm looking forward to getting the dust off of it. I'm thinking chili this weekend.

I had a west bend crockery for a few years and I loved that, though it was 10 yrs old I had no problems with it until I accidentally had a glass slip out of my hand while it was soaking and chipped an edge pretty good. So then I bought my replacement in May or June it's an actual "crockpot" brand wich is made by sunbeam. Like I said I dunno what I did wrong I used it all summer so our house wouldn't heat up and tonight is crockpot wed and I can't use it & I don't have the money right now to replace it.

That's rotten. I'll make sure not to get that sunbeam. Hopefully you can get the funds to get another one. Happy Mylotting.

I would think they would at least have a one year warranty on that. If you still have the reciept maybe you can contact the company and tell them that your crock pot did not even last for a year. I would be really upset about that too. I have had one crockpot since I got married 2o years ago. I like it because the inside comes out so you can wash it in the dish washer if you want to or wash it without having to worry about getting the plug wet. But I have 3 others in different sizes because I entertain a lot.

That would be a good idea. I'm not sure if I even have the reciept anymore. I just shredded a bunch a recipets as I could hardly close my wallet anymore. Plus if they'd want me to ship it to them it would hardly be worth the money, it would cost probably atleast 50% or more of the cost to ship it to them if that was what they'd want you to do. And as I looked on their warranty online it's made by sunbeam, I've heard not so good things about sunbeam's products.

Sorry to hear about your crock. Sunbeam is a poorly made product, in my opionion. I've bought atleast 4 can openers and they always break. It's worth it to spend the extra bucks to get a better one! By the way, you ought to go to some yard sales, I always see one at every sale. Most of the time the people will plug it in for you to make sure it works and I would buy extra's because you don't seem to be having very good luck, ha ha =) Check Good Will or Salvation Army or other thrift store if you have one nearby! Good Luck!

Yeah but if you go there or to a garage sale and they have 3 of them for $2.00 a peice and they are all the same, buy all 3. Then you will have still paid less for 3 than 1 new one and you'll have extra lids and crocks if something happens. =)

I didn't realize Sunbeam made the actual "crock-pot" name til I looked online. Unfortunatly, rummage sale season is nearly over. We do have a salvation army near by, so I could peek in there. I don't know that I've seen the replacement crock (ceramic piece), usually I've just seen the whole thing itself not parts.

it probably was the fridge. sometimes once is all it takes. it's funny, you used to see crocks with replaceable inserts,i don't see them as much any more, and they're kind of a pain to wash like that.

That's really unfortunate!! I use my crockpot a lot and luckily haven't had any problems yet! Hopefully when you buy this new one it will be the last for quite some time! Good luck with it. Oh and can I recommend if you can wait, look for crock pot deals on Black Friday!! I got a huge , nice crockpot on Black Friday for like $10!

Oh, bad luck! May it rest in peace! I hope you do better with the next one. I love my crock pot, its great to just leave stuff in there and go out and come back and its all ready. So much less stress!

Very mysterious. That shouldn't have happened that soon to your crockpot. Maybe it has something to do with putting it in the refrigerator when it was still warm. Let's face they don't make things like they used to anymore.

what is a crockpot? i'd guess it is a big pot for making stew in but correct me if i am wrong. anyway what a very sad thing to happen - and a bit strange... i've got some very cheap pans that went all rusty and gunky and which i no longer use (which will serve me right from buying my kitchen equipment from poundland...)
