What little thing have you done today to improve the lives of those around you?

In an effort to improve myself and the lives of those that I love, I try to do a little something nice everyday. Today I made up some little note cards each with a message of praise for my wife and daughters. Most of the time it is a verbal greeting. Sometimes the completion of a task that will help them out or a simple pat on the back. It makes me feel good. When I feel good those around me seem to react in a positive way too. I look forward to hearing about the little ways you strive to improve your life and the lives of those around you.

A colleague of mine is off ill in the moment, but a presentation is due on Monday. Her manager called her and said she has to complete it - ill or not. She called me in a right panc to send her some files through, but I told her I'd sort it out and go back to bed. I worked till 8pm tonight as I had to get my presentation finished as well, but it felt good to help her out.
I believe that good things you do, come back to you in some way or form. And I could do with some good things in the moment. So maybe I was selfish after all in helping her...

Not selfish at all. Good deeds are good deeds. You were definitely thinking of your colleague at the time. I understand completely what you are saying. I could use a bit of good will at the moment myself. It does come. You seem like a very thoughtful person. Just keep on being yourself and remember to always have spirit.

Well, I went to a bank to open an account that transacts with paypal and on my way out I noticed a certain kind of pie that my wife enjoy eating. I know she hasn't seen one for a long time so I bought one to surprise her. And as expected she jumped with joy and devoured everything. LOL
enjoy

Good for you. Very thoughtful indeed. Did she save any at all for you?

This is great. I do similar things here in Trinidad. We have a big problem with vagrants and other poor people and its a good thing to give out a dollar or two.
Then, in my office there are so many young people just out of school or new in this kind of work you can help with advice or a few pointers.
Helping is good - yes.

Hello. Thank you for your response. A big deal indeed. It all adds up. Every little thing you do to make the home nice for your family will have a positive impact on them.

I must say, you are a great person! You understand the importance of the small things that don't mean much, but bring a lot of happiness and love when taken into consideration. Even I try to grab such little things. I help my elders by offering my services whenever they need to get something from the market. I notice the broad smile when I try to help the ladies at home with the cooking work (although I am bad at it, just an offer pleases the ladies). I even love to take my little nephew out on a cycle ride which he loves a lot and doesn't get very often as his parents are not able to take out too much time for this activity. The smile and the giggles of the child when on the ride is my reward!

I think as we grow older, it is very difficult to do more things to improve those around you. We have been civic and nice to each other. We have shown consideration; pat each other on their back for doing good deeds and also played team when the occasion calls for it. Indeed, we have not shirked our responsibilities and obligations to all our loved ones.I think the current situation is about optimal.

I read this and my first reaction was 'no, I haven't!'
But thinking about it, I baked white chocolate raspberry scones for my husband this afternoon so he could have them after work. Thats nice, isn't it?!
Actually I have been thinking about this today. I have been feeling a bit useless because of being unemployed, but I was trying to think of positive things I can do from home. I decided that tomorrow I am going to write to my birth mother (I am adopted but found my birth mother, but we haven't been in touch for a while) and also to a friend who just moved away, and is dealing with settling her 6 children into the new town - I figure she may need encouragement!
Now, if my husband would like to make up praise cards for me, that would be nice...lol

Well, not too much but today morning I was waiting for the bus and there was a woman carrying a lot of stuffs.. so I thought it might be hard to get in the bus carrying all those stuffs so I told her I could help her with something :) if I was on the same situation I would like someone to help me.. it wasn't a big favor but she said thanks to me and that made me feel good.. I started a good day making someone else's life a little bit easier =)
