I am not sure. As far as I remember I had pain in my legs and on one occasion pain in my back. I have stood for long hours and it was never pleasant. Writing about it reminds me of the unpleasant experience. So I will stop here.

yes pain is cause by little oxygen on that part and causes pooling of blood which it should circulate back and forth.

hi amyson oh yes I have been in that position until lately'when I cannot stand very long at all. My bad leg starts to cramp and if Ido not sit down I could very well fall.Oddly enough when I have muscle cramps specially in the calves or my feet Ihave to walk them off, not stand but walk as it loosens the muscles and stops the cramping.stretching also helps but the cold and heat dont really help much. massaging will not help the cramp.

I also have tried standing for long hours, specially when it's rush hour, and I'm waiting for a bus. The last time I remember I have done this was when I fell in line at the Intramuros, to pay my last respect for our Former President Corazon Aquino, I was with my cousins and aunt, and we were in line for 5 hours I think.. the catch is, we were not able to see her remains, because it rained really hard and we had to get out of our line to go somewhere dry...

Hi amyson, I oftentimes suffer from cramps at night or early in the morning when I turn my back from one side to the other. They said it's only normal for pregnant woman and so I just leave my leg straight and my foot/toes folded to allow a better circualtion of blood but sometimes I can't help but cry when it's too late to fold my toes and it's really painful. As soon as I woke up in the morning, I would draw a light massage on my leg before getting up. Good Day!

i also experience that many times i woke but i cant move my legs it cause maybe by lack of blood supply and oxygen to the part so later it gives us pain.to relieve just massaging it slowly not vigorously.thank you for sharing.

i do experienced that too.. Wen i was student, during duty hours at the hospital we are not allowed to sit. We stand for about 8 hours. wat i did was, i used a pantyhose stocking and wen i got home i place my feet above the level of my heart to promote venous return..

yes it facilitate blood flow return but some cases of disease that elevate of feet might worsen the swelling.so it depends on the situation.

I can usually stand for hours now and not get leg cramps. However, back when I was pregnant with my youngest I was only on my feet for maybe a couple of hours straight while shopping one day. When I went to sleep that night I woke up to some horrific leg cramps in the middle of the night. I wanted to cry out in pain it was that bad! Fortunately the cramping subsided eventually and I was able to go back to sleep. I don't know any tricks to get rid of leg cramps. I'll say this much though, I never want to go through that again. It was worse than going through childbirth, at least for me anyway. Happy mylotting!

Hello friend, Standing for long hours would surely give us cramps. So,try to walk in place like marching to let blood flows.Standing for too long makes our blood flows slower than the normal cycle and that causes the cramps. Just like those saleslady at department stores, they were standing for hours, but not standing still, they keep moving to avoid cramps.

I get so tired if i stand for more than 2 hours at a stretch. Indian cooking is quite elaborate and our kitchenis designed in such a way that we can taccomodate any chairs in there. SO that makes us stand more. I take small breaks in between cooking. But when I go for shopping, I hardly find a place to sit, coz most of the benches will be occupied and in most showrooms, they do not have chairs or sofas. I do not get cramps butit just aches. I wear sports shoe when I go shopping so that it reduces the pain, heel are a big no no. I come back home, have a nice bath and hit bed to a very deep sleep. The only good thing about standing is that I get a very nice sleep hi hi

I totally forgot to write what I normally do when I have to stand for a prolonged time. I bent my legs as often a spossible as this helps blood to flow easily and in return gives me less pain.

hi amyson, since i am into training, my job calls for hours of standing. i can do some walking and leaning but most of the time...for the entire day i am standing. Then when i reach home, i do quick shower. This makes me prone to cramps. Really bad cramps. Massaging my legs and feet with oil or lotion makes the feeling better. I also raise my legs up and most of the time i put some pillow under my legs and feet.

Make sure that you stretch your legs and back from time to time to avoid cramps. Do a couple of knee bends as well always helps me.
