How long does it take you to get used to a new keypad?

Well, I recently purchased a new laptop and it's nice and everything. I love everything about it but the keypads. I seriously prefer the one on my old laptop instead. It's been a few weeks now and I still haven't gotten used to where all my buttons are and how it feels. Every time I try to type fast I always end up hitting some random key or missing one by mistake. It's a bit irritating. It probably has something to do with the fact that it's one of those flat pads where all the buttons are even with each other. I suppose I'm not used to those type yet. So, I'm just wondering if anyone else has problems adjusting with new keypads and how long does it usually take you to get used to it.

Usually i haven't felt that much difference in the keyboard changing..Actually i always in my laptop ,but when i am going to my lab in college, i have to use personal computers having very bad conditioned key board , but i can easily adopt to that kind of key board also.. since i have learned type writing in my early age it is very helpful for me.. Sometimes i am very proud of my typewriting speed ...

That's great that you don't have that problem. I'm never really comfortable when using a pc/laptop that isn't my own. It's not just the keyboard either. Everything is just different and takes a while to get used to.

I think it all depends on what kind of person you are that determines the length of time it takes to get use to things easily. If you adapt to things very quickly, then I don't think it will take you very long at all to get use to your new laptop's key board. I've had many new key boards and laptops in my life and everytime I get a new one it's kind of like breaking in a new pair of boots. You have to wear them boots everyday to break them in and get them feeling just right on your feet. The same goes with the key boards, keep on using it and eventually it'll be so comfortable for you to type with you'll forget that you even had a problem with it.

You're very right there. I'd probably adjust faster if I don't jump around from my other laptop to my desktop. But I'm getting there. It's not as irritating when I press a wrong key or when something doesn't go right at the moment. That is progress for me. Anyways, thanks for responding.
