somewhat someway have you ever thought that there was someone to blame with the harsh tragedies that our countries faced through floods and disaster cause by pepeng and others. We might say that a lot of illegal activities through our environment contributes a lot in this disaster, cutting of trees and even improper waste disposal. Maybe the blame should be in us, in each of us, try to examine your life, have you ever been honest or not guilty with this calamities? Its our fault and maybe God want to teach us and make us realized our mistakes. Evaluate ourself!

I think whatever happens happens & blaming someone will not let the happenings go reverse. I don't think god will give such a lesson because calamities are always a part of the nature. Happy Lotting

I agree to your thoughts that it's really happen and natural to have calamities, like Filipino encounter. In my own opion it's somekind of signed for us that we must build a good trust to everyone and share our unity in order to survive. For us to know that there will be a harder trial that will coming, that's why there is no one to be blame with this trials of nature.

I think now is not the right time to point a finger to anybody. We all have a hand to it consciously or unconsciously. Every single one of us is to blame, if we look at ourselves and accept the truth that we are at fault then there is still time to change. Now is the time to unite and seriously do something, not only in our country but the whole world should unite in saving our earth, its the only one we got!

You are right debshie... This is not the time to point someone and to be blame because even though we point someone nothing will happen because the calamity is already made. That's why we need to show our unity in this kind of situation.

I think there is no one to blame of what is happenng. But everybody has responsibilities for the calamity. Maybe there is a reason behind all these things happening to the country. It is so sad really but there is nothing we can do about it. We just have to help each other to build whatever was ruined.

Actually we can do a lot of things about it, people just dont realize. We can start it even now, taking care of our environment is the start, little by little we can learn.

I have replied this phase several times over similar discussion like this one. "If Man is the problem, then Man is the solution". The problem is that we put too much in our environment and we taken so much from it.

That was absolutely right. Let us take care of the environment and it will take care of us in return. That's for sure. The environment is only giving us back the things we gave to it.

Well, if I were an ordinary citizen with an ordinary mind, surely I would think that there would always be someone to blame for all the calamities that our country has been experiencing now. I would probably think that we could've prevented this[floods etc.] if only the government took responsibility of it rather than focusing on trivial matters such as elections and rivalries. I think we could only blame ourselves for this. I mean, we can't rely to the government FOREVER right? we also have our responsibilities to take care and protect our environment. But we failed, and that's that. I know it is hard to move on now that's most of the places of our country are heavily damaged by typhoons. Sitting and not doing anything is not an option, we should take action because IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS CO-CREATORS OF GOD.

If nature's fury does not cause devastating effect to lives and properties, that can not be called a calamity. Rains are rains, floods are floods. These have been happening since prehistoric times as they are part of nature. It became a calamity because of men's own doing. Uncontrolled deforestation, improper wage disposal caused severe flooding, who is to blame? Nature, hardly so. There is no change in the volume of water in the earth since the beginning. Men are bringing this calamities to themselves. Volcanoes have been erupting since the beginning of the world but they are not called calamities. But since men started building houses and communities close to a volcano, eruptions began to be called calamities. Who is to blame? nature? hardly so. Nature will continue to run it's course, it's power can be harnessed for good of mankind and it can be abused for our own destruction and ultimately life in the earth as we know it. have fun

Yes I agree with you. There no one to blame but us people. We allowed it to happen and we seem to ignore things up. I am having also examination of what I have done to contribute to these extreme weather patterns but I think the sin is not on the individual selves but as a community. I guess I cannot be held solely responsible for anything bad that happened but we as a community are held responsibly for this to happen it may start from me, my neighbours, the Barangay, my local government units and so on and so forth. It has happened already and we cannot correct what has happened but we can prevent what can happen again in the future.

I think blaming should be the last thing to be done in situations like these. To blame is irresponsible and self-centered. Hence, let's move forward. And right, if its inevitable to blame, the blame should be on us.

Hello shebang! You are right we must put in our head is the last thing to be think. May be after the repairing the next must be to point those people who is one of the reason, why this thing happen. I get your point in your response!

Natural calamities really happens. We have seen a lot of sufferings and damages caused by typhoon pepeng and ondoy. But I think it is not that worst if we filipino people is taking excellent care of mother nature. There are many illegal things and act that people do to hurt our environment. This is the time for us to reflect and somehow do something. proper waste disposal is important and stop the illegal cutting of trees. the government should be strict enough to implement all these so that it will not worsen the siuation when we are hit by calamities again, which hopefully will not be as bad as ondoy and pepeng.

I think this is a wake up call to us, that we should finally love nature instead of pointing fingers as to whom is to blame. Note that even other countries are suffering almost the same as we are. Yes, I am guilty of not loving the environment a few times. I wish I could be better next time. If all of us will only do the same, then expect that there are more calamities to come....and even worst.

If i will be in general. I will tell that we are the one must be blame with this calamity that we encounter because we are the one who made pollution. Pollution produced by the factory, vehicles, pollution that we produced by throwing garbage in any location. Imagine due to this kind of pollution makes our climate change. Then for a simple rapper of candy throw in a road will be not just a simple rapper that will be stock in our dranage for a number of it. The stock sewege will cause as the flood, like we encounter in flooded location here in the Philippines. Then in somepart i can say that the one who build some structure is the reason, because they did'nt think about the deep posibilities that will happen when they try to build that any specific structure. Well, that's my own believe and opinion regarding, who must be blame in this calamities. I can say this points and though because this is based on our lesson, the eviromental engineering. I hope you also get my point. That's all my response happy posting!

hmmm for me, we cant stop the typhoon from coming to our country but we must do something too to protect us from calamities... just like u said illegal cutting of trees and mining contributes too much, because without trees water will fall below and with trees and mountains they usually stop and slow the flow of water from the mountains because the roots will suck water, factories too and those mines, landslide will happen... im happy that here in my city, we still have mountains to protect us.

Let's blame the weather, then God. Then let's go on living our lives the way we used to do. Never mind clogging our drainage system with garbage, build houses and other buildings in riverbanks and in the mountains, and cut as much trees as we can. Then when calamities like this comes again, let's point our fingers to nature and to God.

We need to blame ourselves also why this calamaties affected us very much. I agree that we are all guilty of it if only we love our environment this would not be the result of it. Next time we need to be more ready and we need the accurate forcast of PAG-ASA now that they already bought new equipments. I hope they going to give us more accurate forecast now.

If I remember it right, it was Architect Palafox mentioning that what happened was not an act of God but was man made. All of us, I believe were to blame for what happened. This includes politicians, teachers, students, professionals, every ordinary people. All of us have contributed to the worsening of our climate. It may not be the end yet. We should do our share to preserve our planet earth. It will save lives, will save our lives.

hi jatacs! At this point it is hard to point fingers...or blaming someone will not resolve some issues either. Obviously man made it worst with deforestation, water pollution (such as stocking garbage on the gutter or dumping garbage on the river) and global warming/climate change (which is a result of man's abuse with nature) greatly affect the situation and resulted to a calamity or national disaster.

While it is not good to point a finger to blame someone, we have to know the reasons or causes of the floods and landslides. True, we cannot prevent the rains and the winds. But we could have minimized the damage had we not cut the trees in the mountains and hills (Blame the loggers whose god is Money); had we not thrown garbage in the rivers, creeks and waterways (Blame the squatters and others; had the politicians done their job of caring for their constituents (Blame the politicians); had the media people given better programs and coverage on environment (Blame the media people)...
