Yesterday I took my toddler son and baby daughter on a bus which was buggy friendly to the city. Then we tried to take an ordinary bus to the hospital. The bus driver carried my children's buggy on board. Then the bus wouldn't start. So he helped all his passengers on to another bus. He got my children's buggy off when the bus got to the stop outside the hospital. I have never met such a friendly and helpful bus driver.
Have you met any especially helpful or friendly bus drivers?
Do you like traveling by bus?

Hi Max,
There are but there are not many of them good driver who do help, but where I live most drivers are very helpful to mothers and babies as well as the elderly people, it should be like that always but in London there not so many.

Max, unfortunately that driver is one in a million, and it's nice to know there are still smoe left. He is a credit to the PTS, and should be used for training clips for others.

wow that's really a great example of helpful bus drivers, i think here, most of the buses have both drivers and conductors, .so the conductors are the one taking care of the passengers. i think theyre doing a good job too. but the bus driver you met was exceptional.

You were very lucky! I haven't seen many helpful bus-drivers. Sometimes I feel that it is an achievement to get one who is even pleasant! Occasionally I have seen one who will help someone elderly with bags and things, but more often they just sit and watch them struggle. I go and help people myself if I'm not wedged in!

Hi Maximax, I don't travel by bus now as there are only two a day at very inconveninet times with an awful long wait to get back again. the last time I took the bus was several years ago when the car was in the garage on the other side of town, and I had no way of getting from the the final bus destination to the garage a few kilometers away so I asked the bus driver to point me in the direction of the nearest taxi rank. Instead of doing that he waited until everyone else had departed the bus and then drove it to the taxi rank for me. Spiffing service that day.

In my place, helpful bus drivers are very rare. I don't like traveling by bus due to land sickness. I'd rather travel by plane. :-)

I live in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. This is a over populated city. Traffic jam always create problems. So I avoid traveling by bus.

I hardly ever travel by bus since I live out in the country. Actually, I live in a small town but I go everywhere by car. I just wanted to say that that was so nice of this bus drver to help youall like this. I imagine he was pretty frustrated when the bus wouldn't start but he went out of his way to help youall and not many people would do this. I've had a lot of car trouble so I can imagine how he must have felt. Kathy.

Good for you. The bus driver must be heaven sent to you. I wish there are more drivers like that here. It is sad that most of the drivers here of buses tend to race with each other to the detriment of the passengers. Long live to your bus driver.

I do not like travelling by bus. It is okay if the distanceis short but I am not in for long hours in a bus...It is just boring to sit at one place without being able to strech yourself. On most occassions, I avoid travelling by bus and only last week I had a good experinece with a taxi driver. Here most of the taxi drivers are rough and snap at the customers for the slightest pretext. If you do not know the route you need to go, it is sure that the taxi fare will be more than double of how much it should be. There is a market about 20km form my home and I went there last week with one of my relatives and on the way back, as usual we got into a taxi and this taxi driver took us through the shortest route, drove quite fast and asked for not a penny more...I was so happy with him that i paid more..

Actually about 7ish years ago when I was about 13 my friend and I decided to take the bus to the nearest movie theatre. It was going to be our first bus experience and our parents both agreed. We were both so excited. I scootered down to my friends apartments which just so happened to be by a bus stop. We left on time but the bus was early. And it was this bus that was going to take us all the way to the theatre :(
We tried to run after it but it was too late. So in an attempt to get onto the right bus route we walked to another bus stop that was a completely different bus. We asked if it was the one we needed to get to the movies and the bus driver was really nice and let us get on, free of charge, to ride us about 5 minutes to the local library where all the buses came together.
When we got there I was so bummed, I called my Mom to tell her that we missed the bus and asked if she could pick us up at the library when my friend called me and told me the bus we needed was there! So we ran as fast as we could out of the library and the moment we got there, all out of breath, I said 'you have no idea, what we've been through to get on this bus'.
And this bus driver then let us get on free of charge. It was super nice of both bus drivers. We had the money but they told us it was fine. Probably because we were kids and it was cute seeing us getting lost, I dont know.
