Do you think that this 2012 stuff has been taken to far?

I know this 2012 hype going around has generated alot of talk and interest especially on rhe internet. I also see that Sony Pictures has put alot into advertising for their 2012 movie in which they even have a website promoting it that was created to look like a real agency that has been working on ways to live through 2012. This can be a very frightening thing to some people. Especially those with anxieties and children. I believe that they are taking this way to far. There have been incidents in the past where people have commited crimes and even suicides due to the belief the world was ending. I was just wondering what other people's takes on this were. Do you think they are going to far?
